Bringing a boy home to mom and dad can be scary. Are they going to like him? Is he going to like them? There is a lot of pressure on this very important first impression, but if they are able to wow them, a wonderful relationship between your parents and your boyfriend can start for life.

1. They get excited when they know he's coming over

Saying he's coming over is never met with, "again?" They don't really care how much he is around because they genuinely enjoy his company.

2. A conversation can be had without you there, and it's not awkward

You can run to the bathroom or go do some work and leave your parents and him together and they'll be able to hold a really great conversation. You don't have to worry about it being awkward if you're gone.

3. They remember details about him

My mom remembers my boyfriend's favorite candy better than I do. When you care about someone, you remember the little things, so it is clear they care about him a lot.

4. They ask about him

If they haven't seen him in a while, they'll always ask how he's doing. They'll ask how work is, or what is take is on something happening in the sports world. They genuinely want to know how he is doing.

5. They pretty much assume you'll be together forever

They reference when you're getting married, your future kids and your life down the line without hesitation.

6. He's invited to family events

There's nothing better than your two favorite worlds colliding. Whether it is a dinner with just the intermediate family or a cookout with the whole gang, the feeling of him not only being invited but it being second nature to invite him is amazing.

7. And your extended family already loves him because of how your parents talk about him

Even before your aunts and uncles and cousins get to meet him, they have a really good idea of how great of a guy he is because he's never talked negatively about.

8. They talk positively about him when he's not around

You always know they aren't just being nice to his face because of how they talk about him when it's just you. They never have a bad thing to say about him.

9. They probably text him out of the blue on occasion

Whether they have a question or just want to make sure you're doing okay, it is really sweet to see the friendship they've formed outside of you.

10. And get him really good Christmas and birthday gifts

They don't just text him Happy Birthday or Merry Christmas, they brainstorm and buy him things they know he will truly like.

11. They always welcome him into their home

When they know he's coming, they'll set up a bed for him and order a pizza. They are always so welcoming.

12. They always have a hug or a handshake when he leaves

Your boyfriend never just says goodbye to your parents. He'll shake your dad's hand and hug your mom. They tell him to drive safe and let them know when he gets home safely, just like they do for you.

13. And finally, they already see him as part of the family

He may be your boyfriend, but your parents consider him part of the family. From buying him gifts to inviting him to all your family affairs, he has already fit himself into your family. And that's the greatest feeling of them all.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
