The most wonderful time of the year is quickly approaching us. Thanksgiving and Black Friday has already passed so just think Christmas is next! It's the time of the year where everyone loves to give and no matter who you are we all like to receive.

For college students this means no homework, sleeping in late and taking as many naps as we want, eating all of our favorite Christmas food, cuddling up by the fire in our fuzzy socks and warm blankets and most of all getting those presents we've been waiting for!

So if you're buying for a college student and just don't know what to get here are 13 Christmas gifts all college students would love to receive this Christmas.

1. Money

I can promise you no matter the college student they will love to get money. Whether it goes toward food, shopping, a movie night or paying bills they will be thankful for it.

2. Gift Cards

If you think money isn't enough find out their favorite places to go and get them gift cards. You can't go wrong with food, gas or shopping gift cards.

3. Food

College students are at that point in the semester where their over can food and frozen dinners. Groceries or even food gift cards would be appreciated.

4. Warm clothes

Warm winter clothes is a must when you're walking from one building to the other in the snow.

5. Shoes

All college students do a ton of walking everyday, so cute and comfortable shoes is a nice touch to the Christmas list.

6. Apartment stuff

Nothing is as exciting as having your own place and being able to decorate it however you want. Being on a college budget not many students have the money to my all the decor they want. So any rugs, pictures, pillows or furniture would be an awesome way to go.

7. A pet

Even though college students are busy a pet is still a great companion. I mean pets can help with depression and improve students day to day activities.

8. Comfy blankets

We all love those cozy blankets to cuddle up with on the days we have nothing at all to do.

9. Keurig w/ coffee

Every college student needs some type of pick me up for those 8am classes. And what better way than a quick and mess free cup of coffee from their Keurig.

10. Concert tickets

There are always concerts, shows, games or even plays that every college student wants to go to. So a ticket to their favorite game or artist is just the way to go.

11. Cookbooks

When you live on you're own you don't have those meal plans for school dinners. So a nice cookbook or two for easy dinners is a great thoughtful gift.

12. Candle/wax warmers w/ the wax

Candles are nice but not always allowed in dorms or a a cute wax warmer with the perfect scents is a gift any college student would be glad to have.

If all else fails money, money, money and more money to pay off those students loans. This gift is probably the one gift every college student with a loan out will be jumping up and down about.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school.
