I think I can speak for most '90s babies, if not all millennials, when I say Disney Channel Original Movies were IT back in the day. So in honor of some of the greatest movies that nearly shaped my entire childhood, here are just some of the best:
1. Tower of Terror (1997):
This movie gave me a panic attack almost every time I watched it, but that never stopped me. Pretty sure I also broke the VCR from watching it too many times (sorry not sorry).
2. My Date with the President's Daughter (1998):
Duncan Fletcher, you lucky guy you, even though your real name is Eric Matthews. I know I speak for many when I say all I wanted in life was to be Hallie Richmond.
3. The Thirteenth Year (1999):
The kid grew fins... Need I say more?
4. Smart House (1999):
Pat, you were kind of an evil wench towards the end, but who wouldn't want a house that's programmed to basically do anything you ask? I'm still waiting on mine.
5. Life-Size (2000):
15 years later and I'm still wondering if Sunnyvale is actually a real place?
6. Model Behavior (2000):
Switching lives with your long lost twin, dating every 90's girl's heartthrob aka JT. Ugh, sign me up!
7. Mom's Got a Date With a Vampire (2000):
I knew from the moment they met in the grocery store that Dimitri was a bad seed. Nothing but hella creepy vibes coming from that one, but thankfully it all turned out okay in the end.
8. Phantom of the Megaplex (2000):
This movie absolutely scarred me from entering a movie theater until about the age of 12, but Pete Riley made it worth every single time. <3
9. Motocrossed (2001):
Andy was a total badass and taught us that we can do anything we set our minds to regardless of our gender. GIRL POWER!
10. The Luck of the Irish (2001):
Ryan Merriman, you're hot. You may have been a leprechaun for half the movie, but you're still hot (pointy ears and all).
11. Double Teamed (2002):
This movie quite possibly could have been the only reason I stuck with playing basketball until the 8th grade. Wishful thinking that somewhere along the way I'd turn into Heidi Burge.
12. Cadet Kelly (2002):
The 2 lessons learned from this movie; a) I never wanted to go to military school and b) Christy Carlson Romano's favorite word is maggot.
13. Gotta Kick It Up! (2002):
"Si se puede!" "Si se puede!"
14. Get a Clue (2002):
If Lindsay Lohan had a spy kit, I had a spy kit.
15. Eddie's Million Dollar Cook Off (2003):
The original Troy Bolton battling between playing baseball and cooking. Our hearts really went out to ya, Eddie.
16. The Cheetah Girls (2003):
"Cause we are sisters, we stand together. We make up one big family though we don't look the same."
17. Pixel Perfect (2004):
Phil of the Future creating a girl from the future, am I the only one finding this ironic?
18. Stuck in the Suburbs (2004):
You work those frosted tips Jordan Cahill. My 10 year old self strived to "accidentally" switch cell phones with a celebrity while out in public, but I live in Connecticut so that just wasn't happening.
19. High School Musical (2006):
Because there is just nothing better than Zac Efron circa 2006.
