Cristina Yang, M.D. may be just another fictional character on Grey’s Anatomy but to me and many others she is everything we aspire to be in life. She’s beautiful, brilliant, funny and goes after what she wants regardless of what anyone thinks or says. I think we could all learn a thing or two from Dr. Yang, here are 13 quotes to live by.

1. “Have some fire. Be unstoppable. Be a force of nature. Be better than anyone here, and don’t give a damn what anyone thinks. There are no teams here, no buddies. You’re on your own. Be on your own.”

2.“If you want crappy things to stop happening to you, then stop accepting crap and demand something more.”

3.“Oh, screw beautiful, I’m brilliant. You wanna appease me, compliment my brain!”

4.“Everybody has problems. Now get your ass out of bed and get to work.”

5.“There comes a point where it all becomes too much. When we get too tired to fight anymore. So we give up. That’s when real work begins: to find hope where there seems to be absolutely none at all.”

6.“Sometimes the future changes quickly and completely, and we’re left with only the choice of what do next. We can choose to be afraid of it, to stand there trembling not moving, assuming the worst that can happen or we can step forward into the unknown and assume it will be brilliant.

7. "It's drinking time."

8.“Pretty is not enough. I wanna be great.”

9.“If there’s no food I’m going home.”

10.“Can everyone just accept the fact that there are some things that I like to keep to myself, and I don’t discuss everything to death?”

11.“I’d say wish me luck but I don’t need it.”

12.“I can do hot in my sleep. I look hot in scrubs. I’m a hot person.”

13.“Don’t let what he wants eclipse what you need. He’s very dreamy, but he’s not the sun, you are.”

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
