With the Halloween spirit in full swing, October is a special time in New Orleans. That being said, the music Gods have blessed us with an incredible lineup of artists for this upcoming month. Get ready to bop the night away.... for one month straight. Here are the shows you should be looking out for:

1. ScHoolboy Q and Joey Bada$$, October 4 at House of Blues.

Looking for your man of the year? Find him here while you get your rap fix.

2. Diplo with Smookie Illson, October 6 at The Metropolitan Nightclub.

Boy Oh Boy. If you're in the mood to have a NIGHT, doors for this EDM show open at 9 p.m. and close at 5 a.m. Lots of bang for your $50 ticket.

3. Destructo with IloveMakonnen, Drezo, and Sita Abellan, October 7 at Republic.

The combination of these EDM artists is guaranteed to keep your head boppin' to the music alllllllllllll night long. And even though this show does not take place on a Tuesday, the club will still be going up. Get in on the action here.

4. 3LAU with Justin Caruso, October 8 at Republic.

And since you're already attending two EDM shows in a row, why not just go to a third? Keep up with the unst unst beat for just $25 (plus fees).

5. Chance the Rapper, October 13, Ballroom at Mardi Gras World.

Great rapper, great venue- what more could a Chance fan ask for? Listen to some great music while watching the sunset over the Mississippi. Tickets may be difficult to obtain for this show and are sold out on many sites, but here's what I was able to find. Also on the pricey side- beware.

6. Elvis Costello with Larkin Poe, October 15 at Saenger Theater.

Simply classic. May be more of your parents' cup of tea, but I know there are at least a few of you who would enjoy this show.

7. GRiZ, October 21 at Mardi Gras World.

Where to even begin. Funky, feel good music that will INSTANTLY put you in a good mood. Guaranteed; it's a science. Get your tickets to watch GRiZ rock out on the sax and give you the best night of your life.

8. "Monster Mash" Krewe of Boo Costume Party & Concert, October 22 at The Howlin' Wolf.

Start Halloween a week early with this bash. Get your funk on with Dumpstaphunk and Sexual Thunder while rockin' a killer costume (pun intended).

9. Steve Aoki, Mija, Bleep Bloop and Wuki, October 29 at Mardi Gras World.

If Steve Aoki is still crowdsurfing in a blow-up raft for this show (and there's a chance I can join in on the action), then count me in. Get your tickets here to see what this crazy man has planned for NOLA Halloween weekend.

10. Heaven & Hell featuring Nicky Romero, October 29 at The Metropolitan Nightclub.

Another great DJ making his way to NOLA this month, and all the way from Amsterdam. More artists are to be announced for this show, which is guaranteed to be an EDM filled night. It ends at 6 a.m., so nap in preparation!

11. Galactic, October 29 at Tipitina's.

If EDM ain't your thing, then jam to the beat of this awesome New Orleans born band instead on the Saturday of Halloween. This decision gives you the opportunity to spend your night at one of the coolest venues in NOLA, as well. Pick your poison wisely!

12. Big Gigantic, October 31 at Joy Theater.

And on the night of Halloween itself (which is a Monday, FYI), where else would you want to be but here? Funky, electronic, and amazing. Get your school work done in advance so that you can attend this amazing show.

13. Voodoo Music and Arts Experience, October 28-30 at City Park.

And finally, a festival that will keep you going ALL weekend long. Headliners include The Weeknd, G-Eazy, Porter Robinson, Arcade Fire, The Chainsmokers, and Gramatik—totaling to over 64 bands on four stages. And if you get bored of the music (which you won't), browse through hand-crafted items from art vendors, enjoy food from local restaurants, and even ride some carnival rides. Get in on the action here.

Stay tuned to see what the music gods have in store for us for in November.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
