Collaborative albums and mixtapes are and have been an important part of hip-hop. A full project of two or more artists bettering and trying to best each other can create classic music. With rumors of a Kanye and Drake album coming soon, here are 13 more collab albums the rap world needs as soon as possible.
Black Hippy
The long rumored mega-project has gotten more traction recently as TDE head-honcho Top Dawg has frequently said Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock and Ab-Soul would be available to work on it when they dropped their solo albums. The only one who has not is the elusive Soul, but he is rumored to drop soon. Rap fans will have to continue to pray for the sure-fire fire music that would result.
Lil Yachty & Lil Uzi Vert
Sure to upset "true hip-hop heads" today's most polarizing rap stars would surely be able to cook up some delightful tunes that a large percent of rap fans would absolutely despise.
Father & iLoveMakonnen
Two of hip-hop's most beloved weirdos are a proven dynamic duo, and a full album of the two would be terribly interesting in both subject matter and sound.
Also, Makonnen's OVO connection would open the door to a Father x Drake track, and we need to hear Aubrey try to copy Father's unique flow. I personally think he could do it, and desperately need validation.
Nicki Minaj & Meek Mill
Nicki and Meek should be one of rap's foremost power couples, but due to Meek's unfortunate tweeting habits the couple has been somewhat downgraded. Meek is currently seeking a comeback, and a joint album with his girl could definitely help. Also, the world needs more Nicki Minaj bars.
Future & 21 Savage
Two of Atlanta's finest over Metro Boomin' production would make an incredible project, proven by "Savage Mode" standout track "X."
Chance The Rapper & D.R.A.M
2016 has been good to the young Chicagoans and good friends. To celebrate, the duo should drop some music together, get a Lil Yachty feature, or maybe a "Broccoli" remix? Chicago, and the world, would be better for it.
A$AP Rocky & ScHoolboy Q
The math is simple on this one. Rocky and Q have never put out a bad song together, so they need to do more.
Bonus: Get Tyler The Creator on this as much as possible.
Young Thug & Gucci Mane
Thugg and Guwop need to connect again, and again and again, because they are terrific together. The two technically have a tape together already, but Thug's recent progression would elevate the pair to a whole new level. Just look how happy they look together.
Quavo & Swae Lee
No offense to Offset, Takeoff and Slim Jxmmi, but the brightest stars of Migos and Rae Sremmurd together would be unstoppable.
Kendrick Lamar & Lil Wayne
After K.Dot recently begged Weezy not to retire, the next step is for the pair to get together and make some music. Wayne is at his best now when he is pushed/helped by a great rapper, and Kendrick is certainly that. This album could also cause further separation between Lamar and Drake, and the seemingly inevitable feud could finally come to a head.
Drake & 2 Chainz
Aubrey and 2 Chainz are undefeated on collaborations, and the two seem to have a great relationship. After Drake is done with his Gucci and Kanye projects, getting in the studio with Chainz should be his immediate move.
Migos & Young Thug
The extremely long awaited "MigoThuggin" has seemingly been put on the back burnner by the artists and their management, but hopefully not forever. The crazy flows on this tape would be stunning and neccessary to hip-hop right now.
Kanye West & Jay-Z
What more can I say, "Watch the Throne 2" needs to happen.
Let me know what collab albums you think the rap world needs right now.
