The most wonderful time of the year has finally arrived. A happy mixture of cold weather, fire places, hot cocoa, and best of all: Winter Break. I can't believe this week is Thanksgiving but I am happy to have a much needed long weekend. Then, in just a few short weeks, a nice long winter break awaits.

What better to do with all that free time then binge watch some of the great TV shows? As a college student who refuses to pay for cable, my selection is all available on Netflix and HBO go. And, if you are like me and take an hour to pick something to watch, here ya go. My list of "binge-worthy" shows:

1. Stranger Things

I have watched this Netflix original twice now (all eight episodes), and it was great both times. Plus, they just announced season 2!

2. American Horror Story

I really enjoy this show, especially season 2. One of the few good horror shows on television! There are now five seasons on Netflix to cure your boredom.

3. Game of Thrones

This show is seriously epic. It's another one I started watching a second time through. This show has a huge budget (the largest in TV history), and you can tell by how well done it is. This show is available on HBO GO.

4. F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

To take a turn from my first three recommendations I chose F.R.I.E.N.D.S. I might be the only person who had never seen this before college, but if you haven't either, just start it. It is fun to watch and so relatable to us 20 somethings. Find this great group of characters on Netflix!

5. True Detective

True Detective is a suspense/drama on HBO. I like this show because it is a slower paced detective case, and you spend the whole season solving the mystery with these guys.

6. The Walking Dead

If you haven't already gotten yourself into the land of zombies, this is one that will suck you right in. There are now 6 seasons on Netflix so you won't be bored for a while.

7. Bates Motel

Psycho. It is mysterious and thrilling, and different than many shows you will find. This one is on Netflix!

8. Sword Art Online

I threw this one in there for a little variety. I am not usually one to choose an anime (this was my first) but it did not let me down. It is exciting and beautifully done, and an interesting look into a potential future of games. Season one is available on Netflix.

9. The Night of

This HBO series will keep you on your toes every episode. It is one and only one season, so it is perfect for a quick series.

10. The Killing

This unique crime series is exciting because of the fact that the case is solved over the course of a season, making it more realistic. It is very well done and can also be found on Netflix!

11. Orange is the new Black

Another Netflix original series.OITNB may not be for everyone; however, the characters in this show are all unique and it is fun to grow with all of them over the seasons.

12. True Blood

Another HBO hit (basically for a mature audience), this is my favorite vampire series of all.

13. Dexter

This is a show I actually have not seen yet. It made it on the list because this is the show I plan to watch over the break. I have heard lots of good things, so I am excited to get started!

You're welcome. I attempted to have an array of genres to choose from, but these are all great shows that won't let you down. What shows would you add to the binge list? I am always taking suggestions. Happy breaking!
