13 Of The Greatest Christmas Movies Of All Time

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Lights are going up, presents are being wrapped, and Christmas movies are being played on TV. ABC's 25 Days of Christmas is one of the most anticipated televised events of the year and lots of people will watch 24 hours of A Christmas Story all day on Christmas. So with all these Christmas classics, we here at the Odyssey at USF thought it would be a good idea to rank our some of favorite Christmas movies.

13. A Christmas Carol

Based on the book by Charles Dickens, Disney brings to life the classic story of Ebenezer Scrooge in a beautiful animated feature. In the end, not even Scrooge can hate Christmas.

12. Christmas with the Kranks

This story hits all too close to home. A girl, away at school, calls her parents to say she is coming home for Christmas. Her parents, on the other hand, had every intention on skipping Christmas. They now have to get the house ready for the Christmas their daughter loves. This movie is funny and heartfelt so it is no mystery why it's on our list!

11. Jack Frost

This one is a real tear-jerker. Starring Michale Keaton (as the snowman), a boy loses his father on Christmas Eve and the following year he builds a snowman that becomes the reincarnation of his father. This story is a sad but beautiful story of what it means to lose someone you love and long for time with them.

10. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

The Griswolds are known for their crazy trips, but now they are known for the way they do Christmas too. Christmas Vacation is a classic movie that shows no family is perfect during the holidays.

9. Deck the Halls

"I want my house to be seen from space!" We all have some spirited neighbors. Deck the Halls is a great comedy that shows what happens when tradition meets style. Who will be the last man standing?

8. The Nightmare Before Christmas

Some will argue that this is solely a Halloween movie, but I think it's both. Jack Skellington is here to again to be a part of Christmas, and we're not complaining.

7. The Santa Clause

The Santa Clause answers pretty much any question you could have about Santa and his magic. This movie is heartfelt and funny. It's definitely a must-see of the season. And can we all agree that Tim Allen is the perfect Santa? I mean look at him!

6. Unaccompanied Minors

Imagine being snowed into an airport on Christmas. Think of all the fun you could get into! Unaccompanied Minors shows us what it is like to be happy during the holidays, even when life kind of sucks.

5. A Christmas Story

This movie doesn't even need an introduction. From the scene shown above, to the lamp, to the soap scene, A Christmas Story shows a real Christmas story.

4. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Jim Carey as the Grinch. Do I need to say anything else? After seeing this movie, your heart will grow three sizes too!

3. Home Alone

Kevin won our hearts and kicked some butt. After being left behind when his family goes on vacation, Kevin bobby traps his house to stop burglars from breaking in. You're such a smart kid, Kevin!

2. The Polar Express

All aboard! The Polar Express teaches us what it truly means to believe and experience a journey to the north pole. Can you hear the bell?

1. Elf

The top pick for favorite Christmas movie is Elf! This movie is quotable, funny, and a modern classic. Buddy's Christmas spirit is something we all love!

That's our list! We hope you enjoyed these movies as much as we do. Happy Holidays from the Odyssey at USF!

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Before that day, I never really thought about being a friend to myself, and at the time, I didn't really know what it meant. Now, I realize that you can't fully be there for other people unless you're there for yourself, too. You can't show up for others until you're willing to show up for yourself.

Here are five things everyone should learn in order to be a better friend to themselves. These steps are hard, but they're so worth it.

We all have a love hate relationship with winter, lets be real here. The snow makes people forget how to drive, its cold, the roads are bad, and chances are, you will be spending a lot more money than you do during the other months of the year. If you’re from the Midwest, it seems to be that winter lasts for what feels like forever. But despite the struggles that winter brings, there are so many things to love about it.

The Post Thanksgiving Panic And Anxiety

It happens to all of us, the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas the catch up with you.

Thanksgiving Break is most likely everyone’s favorite break during the fall semester. You get to go home and reminisce with all your high school friends. That diet you’ve been on for the past month goes out the window, and you get to eat until you put yourself into a food coma. There’s no rush on homework and you can just lie in bed and Netflix to your heart’s content. To me that sounds like an ideally wonderful break, and totally stress-free.
