Depending on the type of childhood you had, you may know of "High School Musical." It just celebrated its 10th anniversary last Wednesday, and I teared up a little bit because I have to get old. For some fans it wasn’t a shock that they knew all the lyrics to the songs because they may have had a dance break to "We’re All in This Together" in front of a dance mirror a few months before. For a Disney Channel Original Movie, the feedback was incredible, spawning two sequels that both didn't let down the name of the original. Instead of deciding which one is the best because it is highly debatable, instead here are 13 amazing things about all three "High School Musical" movies.
1. Troy’s outfits in "HSM 2."
How do I say this without fracturing my fragile male ego: They complimented his blue eyes so beautifully. Sharpay was right, coral blue definitely compliments his skin tone.
2. Stick to the status quo.
"…it's better to keep things as they are, don't mess with the flow no, no." That lyric is just smooth AF.
3. The boys are back.
They had adolescent Troy and Chad. I’m sorry but that was cute.
4. Sharpay’s bedazzled everything.
Her cellphone, her microphone, her graduation cap and gown.
5. "I Don't Dance."
Because isn't it lovely to sing a song about how you don't sing and dance whilst singing and dancing.
6. Ryan and Chad switching outfits after "I Don't Dance."
There was literally no point to it but it was fun and showed how you can't judge a book by its cover because Ryan did well playing baseball.
7. Sharpay’s more upbeat covers to Kelsey’s songs.
I’ll give Kelsey "You Are The Music in Me" but "What I’ve Been Looking For" was much better when Sharpay got a hold of it.
8. Zeke.
A baking jock. This is why we have a generation of young adults who are not here for gender-specific toys, clothing and jobs.
9. Miley Cyrus showing up at the end of "HSM 2."
We voted and we got Miley. We are very unsure of who all the options were.
10. Troy missing prom to see Gabriella.
I usually don't like saying it but is that not relationship goals, traveling hundreds of miles to see the only person you wanted to be at your prom with.
11. Ryan’s hats.
His father wasn't feeling them, but we were, and that's all that matters.
12. Fabulous.
She wants fabulous, and that is her simple request. But then sadly she fell in the pool, probably in what was an $1100 Dolce & Gabbana robe, and I just made that up.
13. "Gotta Go My Own Way."
One of the best break up songs, you can’t argue with anyone on this.
Although this year was the 10-year anniversary of "High School Musical," celebrate like every day is the 10-year anniversary because the movies are just that good. I don't now if anyone else has,
but I will say thank you to this guy.
