13 Affirmations For The Struggling Woman

We all have those times when we get down on ourselves and forget who we are and what we have to offer the world. Too many times in this day and age, we seek that answer in other people, especially significant others.

1. You are beautiful.

Look in the mirror every morning and find two things a day that you think are beautiful. This could be as simple as you're having a good hair day, your eyes look really good, or you like the new shirt you're wearing. Find that validation in yourself.

2. You are worthy.

One day, there will be someone who loves you the way you deserve to be loved. For now, don't settle for someone who doesn't give you what you need.

3. You are smart.

Whether it's book smarts or street smarts, you are smart. You have that one thing that you know more about than most people. Teach your friends about it. Everyone loves learning something new.

4. You are strong.

You've made it this far. Everyone goes through their own struggles, and you've made it successfully through all of yours so far.

5. You are kind.

You may be the person that all your friends come to so they can vent. You may volunteer your time. You may cook your friends soup when they're feeling bad. Everyone is kind in their own way.

6. You are whole.

You don't need another person to complete you. Without another person, you can still breathe, eat, sleep, and speak. You don't need another person to do those things for you.

7. You are loved.

That love may not come from a significant other, but you have people in your life who love you. You have friends that would do anything for you. You have family you can always call.

8. You are going places.

Make plans for your future that don't include a partner. Make plans that you will do whether you're with someone or not. Plan to achieve that dream job and go on that vacation you've always wanted to go on.

9. You are not alone.

You may not have a significant other, but there are significant others that do care for you and are more than happy to be around you if you ask. You don't have to go through this alone.

10. You are passionate.

Find that one thing that you love to do. That thing that makes your heart beat faster than it ever has. Then do that thing. A lot.

11. You are a role model.

It doesn't matter who you are, someone is always looking up to you. It might be a younger sibling, peers at school, peers at work, or even people who are watching to cheer you on with what you're doing in life.

12. You are accomplished.

You have been able to breathe for your entire life without having to rely on someone else. If that's the only thing you've done, you've still done something. Bonus points if you've graduated from any level of schooling.

13. You are going to be okay.

No matter what happens in life, you'll keep breathing, you'll keep moving, and you'll keep succeeding. So keep kicking butt.

Whatever you're going through, you got this.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
