Welcome to 2017! I’m sure you’re Facebook timelines and Twitter feeds have been full of friends and family publicly proclaiming their New Year’s resolutions to the world. We all have them, but do they really happen? How long do some of they last? A few day, a few weeks? Maybe even a few months, if you’re really lucky. If you’re friends are like mine, I’m sure you’ve heard quite a few of these college students’ New Year’s resolutions.
1. Get my butt to the gym
Nike’s slogan is “Just Do It,” for a reason. Just get up and go workout.
2. Get an A in class
College classes are hard, but by the time midterms roll around, just remember C’s get degrees.
3. Graduate on time
Lol, we can all hope, right?
4. Not spend as much money at the bars
If you only have $2.54 in your bank account, I wouldn’t recommend going to happy hour.
5. Watch what I eat in the dining halls
Well good luck with this one.
6. Get a job
If you want to avoid having $2.54 in your bank account, start sending out those resumes.
7. Go to more sporting events
Sports are fun, even if you don’t understand them…
8. Don’t eat out as much
2017 is the year to bring out your inner Betty Crocker.
9. Go to bed at a more reasonable time
8 hours of sleep is recommended for a reason. Listen to those healthcare officials.
10. Make a new friend
College life goes away really fast. Dorm life probably goes even faster. Take advantage of the opportunity to meet new and interesting people while you still can.
11. Stop procrastinating
You’ll thank yourself later.
12. Have a better year than last year
You might have had a great year of 2016 or maybe not so much, but I’m sure you can make it even better. Do whatever it takes.
Whether you have a resolution or not, 2017 is here, make it your b*tch. New year, new you, right? But just a piece of advice, posting your resolutions on social media won’t help you accomplish them. Just do it and be happy!
