12 Ways To Support Buffa-Local Food

One of the best things about living in Buffalo is the food. And not just the local food but the small businesses around Buffalo and the food that they make there. But more importantly, supporting local businesses helps keep three times more money in the local economy.

Here are some of my favorite places!

1. Ashkers

This is a small business that serves delicious food that is both healthy and affordable. I'm a huge fan of their wraps but for people who are looking for something smaller, they also have smoothies and juices. As a bonus they have a huge variety of food that is vegetarian and vegan! Check them out on Facebook.

2. Coles

This is the place to go for full meals and the Buffalocal experience. They have a wide variety of beer on their drink menu as well as a large variety of food on their menu. I loved their burgers when I went! Check them out on Facebook.

3. Gabriel's Gate

One thing Buffalo NY is known for are their wings, most people will either recommend Anchor Bar or Duffs, but my personal favorite are from Gabriel's Gate. This is located down in Allentown right off of the Metro. Check them out on Facebook.

4. D'Avolio

This is one of my favorite local food places, although they can be a little pricey, it is definitely worth it after you taste their food! There are a couple locations throughout the Buffalo area, the most convenient are off Elmwood Ave or off the Fountain Plaza stop on the Metro Line.

Sweet Temptations Du Jour

This small bakery is my favorite place to get desserts. They have a couple vegan choices (which are also delicious). My personal favorites are their brownies and their Polish cheesecake.

Tokyo II

As someone who grew up in an amazing place for Asian cuisine, its definitely one thing I miss about home, but this restaurant is one of my favorites. I recommend going for their Hibachi where it is made right in front of you and you get so much food you'll definitely be leaving with leftovers.

Fairycakes

This small bakery specializes in cupcakes. They have a huge variety and every single one that I have tried has been delicious. If you have a cupcake craving I highly recommend going here!

Lloyd's Tacos

This originally started as a Buffa-local food truck but has recently also expanded to Lloyd's Taco Factory. Although I've yet to go to the taco factory, I've had their food truck tacos at a few different Canisius Events. I highly recommend for anyone new to Buffalo!

Sun Cuisine

This restaurant serves delicious Burmese-Thai food. They have a couple unique dishes including their pumpkin curry and their black rice. I recommend this place for people looking to try a unique Asian cuisine restaurant.

10. Globe Market

This delicious venue advertises "Your Kitchen Away From Home" except I would argue it is far better than my kitchen. I've only had their food once or twice but it is delicious and uniquely them. I recommend their wraps especially. Bonus: They have lots of different vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.

Panos

If you are looking for a Buffa-local place with a huge variety on the menu, I would recommend this place! Their food is delicious and their staff is amazingly friendly.

12. Allen St. Poutine

So for those non-native to Buffalo, Poutine is a Canadian thing with fries, gravy and cheese. This local venue does a huge variety of the traditional dish even with a few vegan options and vegetarian options. In addition, they also have a ping pong table so you can play after you eat.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
