12 Ways that Mean Girls Would Be Different in 2016
Mean Girls: The iconic movie about Cady, a homeschool girl, joining society in the world of high school after living in Africa. Cue Regina George and her group of wanna bees. They take a liking to Cady and her innocence and soon Cady finds herself spiraling down a path filled with deceit, lies, and down right mean events that she herself is the head of. Mean Girls is a movie made in 2014 about a girl just trying to find herself during her adolescent years. Everyone knows Mean Girls whether you love it, your sister or girl friend loves it, your daughter loves it... it's just a common movie in the family household. While watching it the other day, though, my friends and I couldn't help, but notice how outdated it was. Of course, it was made 12 years ago, but we kept saying "oh, that would have never happened now" or "they would be doing this in 2016." So, I decided to make our conversation into an article and share with everyone some ways that Mean Girls would be totally different if it took place in 2016.
1. Regina would never eat those Kälteen bars because she would just be able to google what they are and what they're made of. Instead Cady would just put fattening ingredients in her protein shake.
2. At lunch, when Regina and Aaron were showing some major PDA, Cady wouldn't have to awkwardly watch because she would be too busy scrolling through Instagram.
3. Three-way calls wouldn't be a thing. Group Me's would.
4. Janis wouldn't work at that weird candle place that she did, she'd work at Sephora.
5. Cady and Aaron wouldn't have the study date that lead up to Cady spilling that Regina cheats on him because he would just snapchat his homework to her.
6. The Burn Book wouldn't be a thing because they would resort to cyber bullying instead.
7. Mrs. George wouldn't wear that pink tracksuit, instead she'd probably be decked out in PINK or other Victoria Secret gear.
8. Cady wouldn't have work the ugly dead bride's costume to the Halloween party because she'd see everyone's snapchats before hand and know that it was a bad idea.
9. They'd know about the gym teachers obsession with high school girls (preferably oriental) because he would match with all of them on Tinder.
10. Instead of the Loui Vuiton purse that Regina carries she would have a Michael Korrs cross body.
11. Regina wouldn't spread around flyers after she framed the Burn Book on Cady, she would just post it to her High School's Facebook page.
12. It wouldn't be that big of a deal for Janis to be a lesbian.
Although these changes would be fun we all love Mean Girls for what it is. No matter what era it is in things like Glenn Coco, October 3rd, and the Jingle Bell Rock will forever be timeless. After all this movie is so FETCH.
