In a society where morality and sympathy seem to be diminishing, those of you who continue to show respect and concern for others are truly admired. We applaud you for remaining to show the art of chivalry and courage in an often violent and uncaring world. The fight for women's equality seems to have confused many into believing that chivalry is no longer necessary. Call me old school, but a gentleman has admirable qualities that others can learn from. They're restoring faith in humanity through acts of kindness and consideration for others. Here are 12 ways you can spot out a gentleman.
1) He gives up his seat to someone in need when on the bus or subway.
I'm sure we're all tired and stressed out during the daily commute, but that's no excuse to turn your head away from someone who needs the seat more than you. Pregnant women, those with disabilities, the elderly, etc.. may not have the physical strength to deal with the bumpy ride that often accompanies taking public transportation.
2)Approaches women as human beings and not sexual objects.
Sadly, catcalling is still a prevalent issue. I still haven't met a man who've actually found their wife through the use of catcalling--it'll get you nowhere. "Hey baby, hey baby, hey!" Seriously, stop.
3)Holds the door open for others.
Many people look past this beautiful act due to its simplicity, but in this small act,you put others before yourself. We all have somewhere to be and holding the door for others may not be a fun activity, but we thank you for doing so.
4)Offers help when in the presence of those in need.
Whether it's helping an elderly woman cross the street or helping someone up after they've fallen, you remind us that we are all human.
There's always that one creep who just cannot take no for an answer when it's apparent that one is uncomfortable and would rather not be in their company. We admire those of you who raise your voice for our protection.
With music and trends, referring to women out of their name seems to be the norm. Many of us don't find being called a "bad b*tch" a compliment.
It doesn't take much effort to escort your loved one home, or to call and make sure they arrived home safely after a night out with friends.
8) Refrains from swearing like a sailor around elders.
I'm pretty sure this is probably a difficult task for many as swearing tends to be *cough* *cough* habit forming. Just remember that everyone's grandparents are not like Baddiewinkle, she's pretty damn cool, I'd party with her.
There are other ways to prove yourself than throwing punches. Have a dance contest, throw out some yo-mama jokes, something.
A gentleman will not belittle or mock you for what you believe in.
Although words are meaningful, saying "I love you" doesn't make it true unless you're able to show it. Someone who constantly cheats can say it quite often, only to go out and cheat again.
12) Apologizes when he knows he's in the wrong.
For some, having to apologize can be a brutal blow to their ego. It takes a lot of courage to admit when one is wrong.
In conclusion,
