12 Ways Life Is A Lot Like A Donut

A Dozen fun/not-so-fun similarities between life and donuts.

Life is like a lot of things: a box of chocolate, a camera, a beautiful melody, a mountain, a train wreck. You can pretty much compare anything to life as long as you have enough motivation and creativity. So, let's see how life is like donuts!

1. There are a lot of different types:

You can have chocolate donuts, blueberry cake, jelly filled, etc. Everyone has their own thing that they like and all are so individual!

2. They look good on the outside but are sometimes awful on the inside:

A lot of people seem pretty awesome externally, but are actually fairly horrible. Reguardless of this, we still have to put up with them from time to time without smashing them.

3. Sometimes they're twisted:

Sometimes life gets weird and all mushed together. But, no matter what, we do our best to enjoy it and find some tastiness. Plus, some people prefer things a little twisted.

4. There is a huge whole in the middle:

Something always feels missing from life. Luckily for us, that little bit that gets taken out often becomes something wonderful and delicious all in its own right.

5. You take them whenever they're available, even if its awful:

Sometimes donuts suck (as mentioned above). But even then, we take them and eat them because hey, donuts, man.

6. Some parts are pointless, but enjoyable anyways:

Let's be real, sprinkles serve no purpose. Whatsoever. They add nothing to the donut. However, they look so pretty that just looking at them makes us happy. Things in life don't have to practical or purposeful in order to make us smile.

7. They're best at 2 a.m. with friends:

Donuts are literally always better late at night/early in the morning with friends. Similarly, life is better when you are enjoying life with people you love.

8. We can't prove they exist:

Time to get into a deep existential crisis: you can't prove anything exists outside of your own consciousness (Google "brain in vat" theory). So, we can't prove donuts exist either. That doesn't stop us from chomping in and enjoying a good one though! If you're in a constant existential crisis like me, remember to chill and enjoy life even when it doesn't seem real.

9. They're sweet and bring happiness:

This is self explanatory and true.

10. They eventually end:

This is also self explanatory and true.

11. Coffee makes them better:

Coffee makes life better. Or tea if you're a tea person. Or chocolate milk or something if you're that weirdo who doesn't like coffee or tea. Whatever your drink is, enjoy it with donuts and in life.

12. You eat donuts no matter what:

We will always love donuts. We love the sprinkles and cream and jelly and toppings. We eat them with friends at 2 a.m. and enjoy them even when they low key may not be "real". They make us happy and we enjoy the good moments. That is what life should be like.

Life is a lot like a donut, so enjoy it just the same.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
