They're Both Magical.

12 Ways Appstate Is Like Hogwarts

Although most of us muggles are still waiting for our acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, at least we all got one from Appalachian State University.

App State may not have Defense Against the Dark Arts lessons or house elves, but it does have a lot in common with Hogwarts. Of course they're both magical, but here are 12 other ways they're alike:

1. They're both surrounded by mountains.

2. And they're both beautiful in the snow.

3. But it's no fun walking to class in a blizzard.

4. Hanging out on the grounds/Sanford Mall between classes is mandatory.

5. And we love to pet the magical creatures on campus.

6. King Street is literally Hogsmeade.

7. And on the weekends, we just want to relax and enjoy a (Butter)Beer.

8. We love our sports teams.

9. And we both know that Quidditch is awesome.

10. Walking to class can be a workout.

11. We love to rep our colors.

12. And most importantly, they both feel like home.

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
