12 Verses To Get You Through This Presidential Term

Let's face it---the results of this election have placed everyone on edge. From the spewing of hate speech to the rising violence and assault against minority groups, it's clear we're all in need of some soothing words to combat all of the unrelenting hostility. Here are 12 verses of Scripture that I pray will give you some peace of mind while you process all that's gone on in this difficult week.

For Peace

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7

For Protection & Strength

13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Ephesian 6:13

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Ephesians 6:10

9 The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Psalm 9:9

11 The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace. Psalm 29:11

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

For Comfort

"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." Psalm 23:4

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1

"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed." 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

"When they call to me, I will answer them; when they are in trouble, I will be with them. I will rescue them and honor them. I will reward them with long life; I will save them." Psalm 91:15-16

For Victory

"For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith." 1 John 4:5

"But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 15:5

If you're reading this, hang in there! God is waiting to comfort you, and He will see you through. As long as there is Christ, there is hope. In Him, we will surely come out victorious!

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
