I'm no stranger to pain or loss. It's simply human to feel alone, hurt, sad, etc. While they're horrible emotions, they also help you to grow and move on. But if you're at a place in your life where you simply don't see any hope in sight, I implore you to look to Christ and trust in the Lord. So that is why I have compiled 12 verses that you can turn to for guidance and support. And if you aren't very religious, I'm sure you can take comfort in these, and in knowing there is someone looking out for you.

1. "The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving." - Psalms 28:7

This is my second favorite verse because it reminds me to trust in the Lords plans and know that he is planning something great for all of us.

2. "The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from their troubles." - Psalm 34:10

All those who call upon God will be answered. Sometimes they will be answered in unexpected ways, but trust in the Lord's actions.

3. "Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world." - Psalm 46:10

God is in charge and knows exactly what he is doing- he has a purpose in mind for what you're going through and would never deliberately put you through pain and suffering without knowing you would come out stronger in the end.

4. "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." - Psalm 147:3

If you are broken, know that God will heal you- just put all your faith in Him. Let go and let God.

5. "Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand." - Isaiah 41:10

Just because you don't feel God with you, doesn't mean he isn't with you. The Lord is with you every step of the way, guiding you and loving you.

6. "But the time is coming- indeed it's here now- when you will be scattered, each one going his own way, leaving me alone. Yet I am not alone because the Father is with me." - John 16:32

Once again, this verse serves as a constant reminder that the Lord is with you. Through your moments of joy, sadness, anger, the Lord is with you.

7. "Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later." - Romans 8:18

Right now, what you're going through might feel unbearable, but there is hope in sight. Nothing is permanent and God will bring us glory after suffering.

8."For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him." - Philippians 1:28-30

Most can agree that suffering sucks, plain and simple. What isn't so plain and simple is that when we suffer because we represent Christ, we know that God considers us worthy to represent him. Suffering strengthens the faith of those that endure and helps us grow.

9. "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7

Paul's advice in this chapter is to turn your worries into prayers. Easier said than done, but if you just pray whenever you start to worry you will know true peace.

10. "For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength." - Philippians 4:13

Not just a verse for student athletes, this quote from scripture clearly states that you can do anything through the strength you draw from Jesus. By continually praying and talking to God, you will be strong and fearless.

11. "Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you." - 1 Peter 5:7

For me, this verse is a constant reminder that I am deeply cared for and that there is absolutely no need to worry because it's all in God's hands.

12. "But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world." - 1 John 4:4

The Lord is greater than all of your troubles and worries, there is no problem you face that He can't handle.

I hope that you can take comfort in these verse as I have, and that they can serve as a reminder that everything is in God's hands. No matter what you're going through in your life, God is there for you and with you. Just talk to him.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
