It is okay to take time to immerse yourself in the world of TV shows, Netflix, and movies. If you are like me this happens at least three times a week. Sometimes, it is necessary to take a break and have "you" time, just be by yourself and do whatever you want. Some people read, others sing, but must of us love binge watching shows. Each show that I have watched moves a part of my soul, it does not matter if it is a fictional story and world because each story and character has the strange power of making you feel connected to them. each character has the power of reflecting some part of your personality or you are simply a history nerd, like me, and want to watch TV shows that are recreated in certain ages. Every person has different preferences, but that does not mean that we cannot enjoy the same things. So here is a list of eleven TV shows that I feel are worth binge watching in your free time:

1. 13 Reasons Why

This is a new Netflix original that has sparked a lot of controversy. It is a book adaptation, which was written by Jay Asher. In my opinion, this TV show came out at the best moment because it talks about controversial topics which are in the media conversation at this moment. The show not only does a great job at catching the attention of the watcher and make them keep watching, it also shows the ugly reality of the world, more specifically high school. Each person has a different way of approaching this TV show and it is not a show that is easy to watch. Some scenes are hard, ugly, and uncomfortable to watch, but if you are a person that cares about learning and understanding other people, this is the perfect show for you. I watched the thirteen episodes in two days and cried a lot because I could feel the character's pain. This is a show that sends a message, it is not only to pass time but it has a deeper meaning. If you are curious and want to understand what I am trying to explain, grab your computer and log in into your account to cry and feel a part of your soul move.

2. Shannara Chronicles

I think I am one of the only ones who has watched this TV show. I am obsessed with fictional worlds, so this was the perfect show for me. I think I watched it in a couple of days and I wanted more, but unfortunately it only has one season. If you want a strong female character as the main character you need to watch this. Also, the story is super interesting and magical. It has elves and gnomes, and humans too. What I liked about this TV show is that it shows the differences between the species and the humans are not the "good" ones. If you like TV shows full of magic, battles, and identity this is the show for you.

3. Grey's Anatomy

This is a classic. I think I have watched it at least three times and every single time feels like the first. This show has everything: romance, blood, drama, and comedy. Each character has a distinct personality that makes you fall in love with them. Right now, it may have like thirteen seasons, but after watching it you feel like you can go out into the world and do a surgery because you know every procedure, or you think you do. In Spanish this is what we call a "culebrón", a really big snake because every single time you think it is over they figure out how to extend it with more drama. I stopped watching it after season 10 for personal reasons that have to do with the end of that season, watch if you want to know what happened. Overall, it is a really good TV show, but it can get repetitive so don't watch 10 seasons in one sitting like I did.

4. One Tree Hill

This is another culebrón, very dramatic and full of romance. I like to think of it as an extended version, 7 seasons, of a really dramatic version of "The Notebook" (if you haven't watched that movie you haven't lived). I watched this show a couple of years ago and completely fell in love with it. It is the stereotypical tv show about teenagers, but it develops onto figuring out who you are and breaking those stereotypes. It is an entertaining tv show and talks a lot about family. There are really sad episodes, and I assure you, you will cry, and there are funny episodes too. It focuses on a group of people, but there are side stories being developed too.

5. Medici

I am an art history nerd so this TV show had watched my eye several times. Once I started watching I realized it didn't have much to do with the art, but more about how the Medici family became so important in Florence. As I am a history nerd too, I kept watching. I loved how the struggle to maintain the power and the jealousy between families was depicted so I am waiting for the next season to go live. The costumes and the sites are super beautiful giving more points to this TV show.

6. Grand Hotel

This is a Spanish TV show set in the 1900s. The show revolves around catching a murderer and while that is happening there is also love, jealousy, and drama. If you don't speak Spanish, give it a try, you can still watch it with subtitles. The music sets the perfect mood and you could have been watching for hours, but not realized it. Gives you the opportunity to fall in love with the story and its characters, don't be afraid of watching something new.

7. The Fosters

I started watching this TV show two days ago so I do not know a lot about it. What I do know is that it is a really cute TV show that talks about family and the importance of it. My sister already finished it and while she was watching it she only talked about it. I know she cried and laughed because of the TV show so it must be really good.

8. How To Get Away With Murder

As the title says this is a TV show about getting away with murder. I am not going to say how this fits and why this is the theme, but I can say that it can be hard to understand sometimes so I will give you a trick. The story has two story lines: the present and the future. Both of the story lines are trying to piece the story together. Most of the information it gives you tries to make you infer what is going to happen. It is really fun trying to figure it out, so if you want to solve a crime by inferring who's guilty give it a try with this show.

9. Vampire Diaries

I am experiencing some sadness because we said goodbye to this awesome TV show... I think I had never cried as much as I did during the last episode, and let me tell you it wasn't pretty. This TV show can be considered only for girls, but in my opinion, anyone can watch it. Yes, it has a lot of romance and it is cute, but the male characters don't exist only for it to be romance. Something that I loved about this show was the sense of fate and the past lives. If you haven't watched it don't judge it, I know it is not for everyone but at least give a try and then judge.

10. The 100

We have been talking about the end of the world for years now, but we have never thought about what would happen after the world ends. This tv show talks about the failure of the survival equipment when the Earth was destroyed. The Earth is still there, but no one knows what happened to it. It is interesting to see what could happen and what you would do when you need to survive.

11. Game of Thrones

Power, families, and trying to get control over the reign. This TV show can be bloody and explicit, but I think it shows what happens when differences families are fighting for power, like it happens in our world today. Even if this is a fictional world, it is very similar to ours. Many humans want power and they would do anything to gain that power they want. There are difficult scenes to watch, but each story is complicated and deep. We are not following the story of only one character, there are characters being introduced all the time and those stories are being developed at the same time. The new season goes live this summer and I couldn't be more excited, so if you haven't watched it try to catch up before the new season comes out!

I don't like to rate TV shows or movies because normally I love everything I watch, and if don't like it I wouldn't finish it. The problem is that I can get bored really quick and these TV shows never bored me that is why I am recommending them.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
