Over the summer, I binge watched "Parks and Recreation" on Netflix, and it quickly became one of my favorite shows. Since I love Auburn as much as Leslie loves Pawnee, I have noticed that sometimes the show perfectly describes life on the plains

1. Attending events for the free food

Let's be real, free food is one the best parts of college. While you could also get info about a club, free food is always worth your time.

2. Eating on campus in general

Even though college food tends to get a bad rap, the food at Auburn is pretty great. The smoothie truck, am I right?

3. When class starts after break

Alright, how do I use Quizlet again? Everything was a lot easier when I could sleep in every day.

4. When the professor starts lecturing on the first day

It's supposed to be syllabus week! It's too early to be learning things already!

5. When you get a good grade on a hard test

Auburn is one the hardest colleges in the SEC, after all. Just listen to Donna and Tom on this one.

6. When it's the first home game of the season

You're here to support the team, the band is playing, Aubie's there, we're all in orange and blue, and everything is great! Except if we lose, of course. (But let's not think about that.)

7. Just thinking about Alabama

Don't even get me started on the Tide.

8. Making it through the Haley Center without getting lost

It truly is a maze in there, so you should always be proud of yourself for knowing your way around.

9. Getting lost on campus...and not even being a freshman

I'VE BEEN HERE FOR A YEAR ALREADY. HOW DO I NOT KNOW WHERE EVERYTHING IS?

10. Walking through the concourse

You're lying if you say you've never just thrown away the fliers that people hand to you on the concourse.

11. Just trying to get by in general

We have all been Andy at some point in our college lives. #thestruggle

12. Knowing you made the right choice in coming to Auburn.

Jerry/Garry/Larry/Terry is right for once. I love Auburn and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
