Since Netflix took the world by storm, binge-watching has become a hobby of all of ours, and one show in particular currently has my heart: “Grey’s Anatomy.” I knew my mom watched it, and I'd heard the references to McDreamy and having a "person," but after watching the show, I think that it’s time that we all tell the truth: the only real reason we watched “Grey’s Anatomy” was for Cristina Yang. And now she's gone.

Why are we so attached to this sometimes annoying, always intense, but hilarious robot of a human being? Not only is she smart, sassy, and probably the greatest friend anyone could ever ask for, she’s all of us – at least us college students. She, being a surgeon, works hard to balance her work life and social life while we, being busy college students trying to figure out what the heck we want to do with our lives, try to balance our study life/work life/social life/personal life/sleep life. Don't believe me? Below are 12 situations in which she was totally us as college students.

1. As students, we question our life choices every day.

2. She shares our feelings when we finally get tired of the hook-up culture that is college dating.

3. And look – she's us at every social event.

4. This is us when we stop caring what people really think of us.

And once we realize we can't control other people, we're so much better off. Sometimes it's about the people who treat us terribly and other times it's definitely about walking into class with last night's makeup on and a wrinkled tee shirt.

5. She was actually us during finals week.

6. And because of the above, we were too tired to show emotion.

If you can sleep in college and actually be a fully functioning human being, I truly envy you.

7. When we're a little snappy due to stress and someone points it out.

"You're a little mean today."
"Really? Bite me."

8. She's totally us when we've read one too many articles about social justice for class and are really enlightened to all sorts of social issues.

"Wow, I didn't realize how much people suck."

9. Then, there's us when someone's telling us a story, but we have no time for anyone's whining but our own because, well, life.

10. She's also us when it's finals week and there aren't enough hours to study in the day.

11. She was totally that senior telling us how to survive the rest of college and real life.

12. She's that friend for life that our parents would tell us we'd find in college and that we strive to be.

So, know that it's okay to love Cristina Yang more than every other person on the show, and admit that you're only watching because of her. And, if you're not watching -- well, you should definitely get on that because nobody's more relatable in Shondaland than Queen Yang herself.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
