When going to college either for the first time or for the fourth time, there is a mixture of emotions on "move-in day". This day, in fact, is bittersweet for some people. For myself, I will be making this move all by myself...yes this means that my sister nor my parents will be helping me due to the fact that they are out of town, fortunately; I have friends to help me carry the heavy things that I may have regretted to bring.
In any event, I believe that move in day brings a lot of memories...good or bad. In any situation that may occur during this unforgettable day or even the first day of your college experience, just keep calm and practice patience.
Hopefully, this list perfectly describes your move into your dorm or apartment.
1. Why did I wake up so early for this?
2. Why did I bring so much stuff?
3. Why are all the parking spots filled already?!
4. Where are my friends? I need to see my friends.
5. Why is it like Satan's armpit outside?
6. I miss my family and my dog. I wish they were here.
7. Why did I sign up for that 8 am class?
8. Hold the elevator for me, please! I know it's crowded but I need to get on there!
9. Why are there so many freshmen here?
10. I need to take a nap already.
11. Did I forget anything?
12. I am going to kick ass this year, I know it!
No matter how your move in day experience goes, I sincerely hope that it goes smoothly as possible... if that isn't the case, I hope that your academic year is smooth sailing. Even if your academic year isn't smooth sailing, I guarantee you will get the hang of it or you could ask for help from anyone...like literally anyone. From my previous experience, I know that if I needed help or guidance help was around the corner.
Even though this might sound painful to hear, but....academics should always come first no matter what. Even though college has so much to offer, your academic career will keep you afloat and successful in life.
Remember life isn't about the destination, it's about the journey that you take with your family, friends, and peers. Take life's opportunities to the fullest and try to learn what it truly means to live a happy and successful life.
A little message that I want to leave with you all is that do what makes you happy. Don't try to impress anyone without making yourself the first priority. Living happily is the most important thing that life's journey has to offer.
And lastly, to all of my graduating friends, I will miss you dearly and I hope that our friendship will continue to blossom after college. I hope that our adventures will be just as interesting as before.
