It's that time of year again. Summer is coming to an end, and a new semester is about to begin. As I make plans to hang out with my friends I won't see in a while, and prepare for the new year, there are a number of thoughts running through my mind. Some may be excited for a new year, others may be dreading the start of responsibilities and lack of mom's home cooking, or you're in an between state of wanting to go back, but feel overwhelmed by another of year of classes (me). Nonetheless, every college student can admit to having at least one of these thoughts.

1. "Where's all my stuff?"

After being at home for almost three months, you somehow accumulate way more things than you came with. You have absolutely no idea what to bring to campus and what to leave at home.

2. "I'm going to miss being home so much!"

Home cooked meals. No responsibilities. Netflix binges. Family and friends you haven't seen in a while. Being home is wonderful

3. "This town sucks I can't wait to be back on campus"

You've forgotten how boring your small town can be, and how annoying it can be at home...A part of you can't wait to get back to school

4. "This has been the shortest three months ever..."

It feels like you just left school a few weeks ago, and somehow you're packing to go back. I thought I had one more month left!

5. "When's spring break?"

Simultaneously can't wait for school to start, but also can't wait for it to over because you know how stressful it's going to be!

6. That's seriously all the financial aid I got?!"

You log in to see your financial aid package, only to realize debt is the only thing in your future.

7. "I need to start adulting ASAP!"

The older you get the more responsibility you get, and it's never ending. You're still so lost in this whole being an adult thing

8. "UGH"

Packing. Moving. Classes. Everything seems so tasking when all you want to do is nothing

9."Why am I so broke?"

You thought you might save some money this summer by living at home and having mom cook for you, but somehow all the money you "saved" disappeared into nothing

10. "I hope mom makes me food to go"

How to go from home cooked meals every night to ramen and dining hall "food"

11. "I'm going to get all 'A's' this semester"

A new semester always elicits a "new year, new me" mentality.

12. "This semester is going to kill me."

...but that doesn't last very long.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
