College started recently for many students and those students have already been to class a couple of times. Classes are a lot different than high school so it's an adjustment for the incoming freshman but it's also exciting to be at college especially on your first day of classes. The second day can be a bit different though because the excitement has worn off a bit and now reality sets in a bit. Here's the things everyone is thinking on that second day of class.

1. Why do I have to wake up at 7?

That 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. class is already your least favorite because you have to get up early and who wants to do that?

2. Why did I choose a campus with hills?

Any college campus that's covered in hills will make your legs ache on your hike to class and it's even worse first thing in the morning. It may be gorgeous but it's not a fun walk to class.

3. *Looks at clock* It's only been 10 minutes?!?

Time goes painstaking slow during class but especially when all you're doing in class is reading a syllabus.

4. Okay, one class done.

The first class of the day is over, and it's an accomplishment even if you still have 3 or 4 classes left.

5. *Finishes second class of the day* I think I should get food now but it's soooo far.

Remember those hills? You have to walk more of them just to get lunch, but who really needs lunch. Your dorm's closer and you have snacks, so you'll survive.

6. I can't believe it's only Tuesday.

It may only be the second day but it feels like it's almost Friday already.

7. Okay, I'm hungry so I guess I'll actually go get food now.

Hunger wins out and you make the trek across campus for the food you should have gotten earlier.

8. Wait, I don't want to eat alone.

You quickly scramble to find someone to eat with so you're not alone.

9. And now to choose what I actually want.

I've already tried a few things, but maybe I should get something new. I probably won't though and I'll still have the same meal I've eaten four times already.

10. I should probably do my homework so I don't leave it till last minute.

This probably won't happen but we all wish we could stay on top of it.

11. I wonder if anyone is free to hang out.

There's so many people why waste time alone when you can hang out with your friends.

12. This is hard, but also amazing.

College poses some challenges, but it's such an amazing experience. Enjoy the moment and don't forget to work hard.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
