Once upon a time in a not so far off land, there was a little girl who idolized the Disney Princesses. These ladies are what every girl wanted to be when they grew up. Some may think all they are is a bunch of girls trying to find their prince, but they have so much more to offer the world than a good love story.

1. Aurora

Aurora teaches us about the importance of naps. Her name after all is Sleeping Beauty and I know she's a firm believer that a good nap solves everything.

2. Jasmine

Jasmine lets us know that it is perfectly acceptable for your cat to be your best friend. Rajah is there for her when no one else is and he's always down for a good cuddle. Feline friends are some of the best friends and sometimes they just get you more than actual people do.

3. Snow White

Snow is a perfect example that it is in fact okay to have guy friends. Just because you are friends with a male does not mean you are betrothed or that you have some sort of secret relationship going on. I hate to say it, but sometimes guys can be more understanding than girls and easier to be around. I mean Snow had seven guy friends and no one questioned her intentions.

4. Belle

Now I may be a little biased, but I think Belle is one of the greatest Disney princesses of all time. She reminds us that loving what's on the inside is the most important thing. Sure it's nice when people are pretty, but looks are temporary. Fall in love with who they are as person, not their appearance.

5. Merida

Merida is the poster child for "I am a strong, independent women and I don't need no man." She shows us that you do not need a boy to complete you. You should never let a boy determine your happiness or sense of worth because I promise you are a prize that deserves the best.

6. Mulan

Mulan is great at representing the fact that a girl can do anything a boy can do; especially when she puts her mind to it. Don't ever let anyone belittle your potential for your abilities just because you're a girl. Never let anyone discriminate against you and your talents.

7. Tiana

Tiana reminds us to never give up on our dreams, no matter how many people tell you that you can't do it. You can accomplish so many things in life, but only if you have the courage to pursue your goals. Don't ever let someone put you down or minimize your potential because you can do anything you set your mind to. Please never stop dreaming.

8. Elsa

In the beginning, Elsa is scared to show the world who she really is and be authentically herself. She wants to conceal the things that make her different so she will blend in with the crowd. Soon she realizes that you have to let the opinions of others go and be the amazing person that you are meant to be. Remember to always be yourself and never hide the things that make you who you are.

9. Ariel

Ariel teaches us that if he is the one, he will love you and your quirks because they make you unique and beautiful. Don't ever change yourself for a boy because I promise they are not worth it. If they don't accept you just the way you are, then show them the door because they don't deserve you.

10. Anna

Anna reminds us to appreciate the little things in life. She was held hostage in a castle half her life so the tiniest things amaze her. Sometimes it's good for us to sit back and remember we are blessed. Even when we don't feel like we are.

11. Rapunzel

This long-locked lady knows that it is good to get out of your comfort zone sometimes and try new things. Doing the same thing over and over can get boring and when we get out there to try new things we begin to experience growth. Rapunzel started to learn more and more about herself when she tested the waters and became so much happier in the end.

12. Cinderella

Cinderella is the ultimate Disney princess. Not only is she kind and genuine, but she knew who she was and the things she was capable of. She didn't let anyone look down on her or tell her that she wasn't worth anything. You should never let someone dictate your life or belittle your talents.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
