If you're anything like me, reality has hit a little harder than usual this week. It's the sixth week of classes and you feel like all the cards are turned against you. Between 18 credits, clubs, part-time jobs, trying to maintain a social life and regular sleep schedule - you just feel defeated. But in the midst of it all, there are still small positives in everyday!

1. Beach days in September

2. Roommates that make me laugh until my stomach hurts

3. Handwritten letters

4. Acing a test you didn't feel confident about

5. Finding your laundry folded on top of the machine

6. Phone calls with my mom

7. Miley Cyrus's new album

8. The warm-straight-out-of-the-oven chocolate chip cookies from the dining hall

9. Jesus!!

10. Sunrises

11. Coffee

12. Football weekends

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.
