Having a guy best friend is something to thank the Heavens above for. There is an infinite amount of times they should be acknowledged for holding your hand when you cry, or holding your hair back when you throw up. No matter what the situation, they are there, and they're always endlessly supportive. Although there will most likely never be a romantic relationship between the two of you, it is comforting knowing people see potential. Other people see that someone genuinely cares about you, and would do anything for you. Isn’t that what best friends are for?

1. Thank you for supporting my many questionable decisions:
Surprisingly enough, you are the one and only person I tell everything and anything to. Even when I tell you the most embarrassing, wild stories, you never cease to amaze me in how you don’t judge me (too much).

2. Thank you for warning me about the guy who only wanted to use me:
As much as I hate to admit it, you were right, and majority of the time, you are right. As much as you think the boy you are 'talking to' wants more than to be just friends with benefits, if your best guy friends warns you about them, run.

3. Thank you for approving those risky (or risqué) Instagram pictures before anyone else sees them:
Whether you like it or not, you’re going to have to give me your opinion on a picture before anyone else sees it. You have gotten that Halloween picture where my costume showed a little too much cleavage, endless amounts of selfies, and many more, just to make sure I looked flawless.

4. Thank you for always being up for midnight pizza:
When the midnight cravings hit, you are the first, and majority of the time, the only number I call to see if you want to order pizza with me. The amount of money that goes to waste on pizza, especially in college, is absurd, but I wouldn’t want to gain the Freshman 15 so easily with anyone else.

5. Thank you for being brutally honest:
If you weren’t truthful with me, I would have gone out in that bright pink dress that made me look big, or wear my hair in the cornrows my friend gave me when she was bored (seriously thank you for talking me out of keeping them in). As the saying goes, “honesty is the best policy,” and I can always count on you to be completely honest, no matter how brutal it can be.

6. Thank you for taking me on dates:
Chipotle is really all I have to say. A lot of Chipotle dates that will never get old.

7. Thank you for letting me hang out with you and your guy friends:
Even if it is just a “guys’ night," you make sure I have something to do so I’m not hanging out by myself, and if I am, it turns into guys and girl night. Now, I don’t just consider them your friends, but also mine.

8. Thank you for teaching me how to defend myself if need be:
Even though you continuously tell me that if anyone messes with me, they’re going to have to mess with you too, you make sure I know how to defend myself. You taught me how to use my pepper spray, and how punch someone without breaking my fingers (turns out you don’t tuck your thumb when you punch).

9. Thank you for letting me steal your sweatshirts (and letting me keep them):
What girl doesn’t love free sweatshirts? Well I know how much money they cost, so you'll eventually get them back (maybe).

10. Thank you for making me realize I don’t need a boyfriend to be happy:
You’re a guy, you know how guys are, when I come to you upset over one you tend to give me the same advice every time, “you do not need a boy to love you to make you happy, you need to love yourself first, then eventually the right guy will come along." The best advice, from the best guy friend.

11.Thank you for showing me that even on my worst days, I am still loved, and beautiful:
When I am stressed, heart broken, depressed, or just exhausted, I tend to go to you for comfort. Although I have no makeup on, I'm wearing a "groufit," and have a tear-stained face, you always cheer me up, and make me smile. You turn the darkest days into the brightest without even trying.

12. Thank you for being you:
Without you, I would not be me. You give me the love and time that every girl only dreams of. Even though we are nothing more than best friends, I love you, and I would be so lost without you. Thank you for everything.

With love,

Your best girl friend

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
