12 Things You Know If Your Mom Is Your BFF

What's better than having your Mom as your best friend? I'll answer that for you- absolutely, positively nothing. She's giving me the best nineteen years of life- which I'm so lucky for- but she's also given me 19 years of pure friendship and someone to tell all my secrets too. I don't even know where to start, but here we go:

1. She'll always have your back.

It's so easy to get your Momma to hate someone you hate. I mean seriously- no one hurts her baby...EVER. She's probably the only person who will blatantly hate someone just because you do. It's great, but it's also a process because if you ever like someone again get ready for 21 questions (and not the fun kind).

2. Answers honestly when you ask: "Do I look good in this?"

After all, just like what she wears reflects on you- what you wear reflects on her. If your Mom is your BFF you know that she will never let you go out looking like a slob. Even if she doesn't say anything- her eyes do the talking. She's your #1 critic and don't worry- you're her's too.

3. She always knows the right things to say and do!

Most of your friends ask their Mom for permission, you ask for advice. Going through a break-up or some girl drama? Your Momma is your free therapist. It's like she went through this exact moment before- and practiced the words that just spewed out of her mouth- a built in psychiatrist. "Want some frozen yogurt?"

4. She's the first person you call when something good happens.

"OMG, Mom guess who got the Job!!!". She's the first person you want to let in on your juicy life and hearing her excitement behind the phone is probably one of the best feelings too. But, she's also the first person you call when something bad happens- like the fourth time you had the stomach flu since you left for college.

5. You borrow each other's clothes.

Don't hate my momma cause she's got more style than your momma. You always find her peeking in your draws or jewelry box for some goodies and vice versa. It's totally not embarrassing to tell your girl friends that it's your mom's shirt cause you probably picked it out for her. "Hmm, I think she got it from Forever 21 actually, it's cute right?"

6. It's nearly IMPOSSIBLE for you to lie to her.

"Just tell her you're sleeping at my house.. she'll never know" Yeah, that might work for you but..she knows my lying face. It'll never work. It's like trying to tell when Pinocchio lies....yes, impossible.

7. She shows you love on LITERALLY everything you post on Facebook!

"Aw, look at my beautiful daughter". It doesn't matter what you post you can always count on your Mommy to show you, love. Whether it's a selfie, your odyssey articles, or even just a post about your day- she's there to give you the "loved". Thanks, Mom!!!

8. Your other friends wish they had a mom like yours!

"Your mom is the coolest"- yeah I know. Sometimes your friends even start to call your mom theirs. She's there to pour you and your girls a glass of wine or make you some comfort food. It's like a dream come true.

9. She knows all of your friends and has opinions of all of them.

Even the ones that she hasn't met. She knows all of your stories, and literally just gets vibes off of all of them- and she's ALWAYS right. If you haven't gotten to the point to realize that she is right...just wait...just wait.

10. You (at least once) have canceled plans to hang out with her.

"Nah sorry, my Mom said No" because she is so much more fun to be around than those snobby girls that talk about each other at ANOTHER party. LAME. I'd rather stay in and watch movies with her and listen to Bon Jovi all night.

11. You fight A LOT

But, you'll probably make up within the hour, it's honestly no big deal. You say things you obviously don't mean- I mean your BFFs you have to at least have one fight.

12. You've gotten drunk with her....at least once

The best wing women and marg maker is my mother. The best heart-to-hearts is when you can barely talk and you're just consoling each other. She's your favorite person to get drunk with because there's ZERO drama.

I mean like who wouldn't want their Mom to be their Best Friend?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
