You may have already survived your first semester of college, or you may be like me, where you are just about to put your first semester to bed within the weeks ahead. Whether it was a good experience or a bad one, we're just about ready to cross the finish line. Either way, we have all learned a little something about ourselves from our big step into adulthood. Here are some of the things I have acquired throughout my first semester as a college student.

1) Being an adult isn't easy.

I have no money in my bank and no clothes to wear.

2) Finding the perfect time to do your laundry is essential.

The Laundry room is pretty much always in use, and if it isn't in use then it must be 2 AM. So you may need to find the perfect time to go.

3) How to manage my time.

You're going to need to have great time management skills in order to survive throughout college.

4) Making new friends.

Although people at college tend to be friendlier and more respectful, making friends still can be hard. Do not worry if you haven't met your group yet, everyone is still getting accustomed.

5) Living in a dorm is not as bad as everyone thinks.

More often than not, you'll have a great RA and good hall-mates that makes living in a shared community much easier.

6) Time to yourself is very much needed.

Self-love is very important, especially during long periods of studying.

7) The library is my best friend.

No but really, the library is a great place to study and keep on track of your work.

8) Finding time for your family is very important.

Other than the home cooked meals you so greatly miss, giving your parents a call is very important. Just to give them updates and to make sure they're doing okay.

9) Keeping contact with old friends can be very healthy.

Maintaining relationships with old friends can be very good for the soul, always knowing that no matter how far they are they'll still always be there for you.

10) Homework takes time and by time I do mean sleep time.

I think the meme explains itself.

11) We're all still trying to figure it out.

Regardless of how everyone else may look, we all are still a little lost. But we don't need to have it all figured out right away, thats what college is for!

12) The last and final thing is, college is as great as everyone says it is.

College really is all its made out to be. It may be difficult at times, but the lessons that you'll learn will be very much worth it. Even though I haven't been here a long time, I can already tell that the next 4 years of my life is going to be filled with the most exciting moments I will ever encounter in my life.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
