The American sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" is probably one of the greatest TV shows out there. It has provided its viewers with a wide range of emotions and is one of those shows that is somehow always perfect to watch no matter what mood you're in or what you may be feeling in that moment. You can never go wrong with "How I Met Your Mother."

Ted, Robin, Barney, Marshall, and Lily are all so relatable and lovable in their own ways. You become so attached to them that they become your best friends. You start to feel like part of the gang. They all go through so much and it feels like you're right there along side them while they do. We have all learned countless facts and lessons from them, some more profound than others. Here are a few of the things "How I Met Your Mother" has taught me:

1. How to spell 'professor.'

"Hello, class! Welcome to Architecture 101. Now who can tell me if 'professor' spelled with one 'f' or two?"

2. Squirrels don't get married.

3. Nothing good ever happens after 2 A.M.

If it's 2 A.M., go to sleep. Otherwise you might wake up the next morning with a random girl in your bed and a mystery pineapple on your nightstand that you will never be able to figure out how it got there.

4. Find someone that will fall in love with the weird little things that make you who you are.

When you're in love with someone, you begin to love everything about them, even their strange little quirks that other people probably give them weird looks for.

5. What it feels like when you've found "the one."

Marshmallow and Lilypad are the ultimate couple. Their relationship is perfect and they seem to have it all figured out. Marshall definitely knows what he's talking about when it comes to love.

6. Life is about taking chances.

7. Sometimes love can be found in the most unexpected places with the most unexpected people.

8. Timing is everything.

9. Time will heal a broken heart.

10. A lot can change in a year.

Sometimes we don't notice how quickly things can change. But if you just take a moment to look back at where you were in your life at this time last year, the difference between then and now will astound you.

11. You can choose how you feel.

It's all up to you, really. If you don't want to feel a certain way, change it.

12. Deep down, we already know what we really want.

A sign from the universe isn't going to tell you anything you don't already know deep down inside.

"How I Met Your Mother" will warm your heart, melt your heart, break your heart, and put it back together again. Sometimes all in one episode. But there are so many invaluable lessons we can learn from these characters, with some jokes and laughter along the way. The characters, the jokes, and the lessons from this legendary show are unforgettable.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
