12 Things I Experienced While Black Friday Shopping
Business Insider

Well, the time has come again for Black Friday shopping. Whether they are getting something for themselves or a gift for someone else, many people go out and about right after their Thanksgiving dinner to try and get their desired items on sale. This year, I went Black Friday shopping and here are 12 things that occurred during my shopping experience.

1. Trying To Find A Parking Spot

You get to the store parking lot only to see that basically every parking spot has been taken, so you go through all the rows looking and praying that you find a parking spot soon enough.

2. Running Around The Store To Find Where Specific Items Are Located

A lot of the time, stores will move items to other locations for Black Friday. When you get there you get a store map and quickly run to the location where your items are located.

3. Making Friends With The People In Line

In some stores, you have to wait in line or around certain items until a specific time before you can grab the item. While you are waiting, you might start conversing with the people waiting in line with you. If you were like me, you'll be there for a while so you might as well make friends.

4. Feeling Anxious And Scared About Getting Trampled

Being in the front of the group or line can be scary, because once the employees say it is time to grab items, people start charging towards the front.

5. Feeling Victorious When You Get Your Item

There is always this small feeling of victory when you are able to get the item that you were looking for, especially if it was one that many people were looking to buy.

6. "Do I need this? Well... it is on sale."

As you continue walking through the store, you keep seeing more and more sales. You begin to ponder if you should buy more items, even if it wasn't your original plan.

7. Trying To Find Your Group Again

After getting your items, you have to find your family or friends that you came with. There is usually so much going on in the store that it takes a while for you to reconnect with your group again.

8. Waiting In Line Part Two

After getting your items, you wait once again in the extremely long checkout line.

9. Trying To Get Out Of The Parking Lot

Trying to get out of the parking lot is a nightmare. There are so many people walking around and so many other cars trying to get out as well. Make sure you are very vigilant and drive safe.

10. Realizing How Late/Early It Is

Black Friday shopping goes all through Thanksgiving night into Friday morning. But, staying up for the deals is a sacrifice many are willing to make.

11. Being Hungry With No Food Locations Open

Since it is Thanksgiving Day, or too early in the morning on Friday, there aren't really any food locations that are open. But, you continue shopping anyway.

12. Choosing Another Store And Repeating The Process Over Again

You keep shopping until you can't shop anymore (or until your wallet says no more).

Black Friday is definitely a different type of shopping experience. It can be stressful and hectic, but you can get very good items for a low price. I don't know about everyone else, but I know I'll be going again next year.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
