12 Things Every Dog Mom Knows

Your fur baby is your world.

12 Things Every Dog Mom Knows

Dogs. God's most precious gift to the human race after Krispy Kreme donuts. They are smart, loyal, and all their sole mission is to love you with all their heart. As a dog mom, my pup is basically my child. So for all you dog moms out there; you get what I mean.

1. You dog is your child.

Your dog is basically your offspring. Even though biologically it isn’t, you treat your pup as though it was. You feed it, clean up after it, take care of it when its’ sick, rock it to sleep at night and so much more. You didn’t know what true love felt like, until its big brown eyes looked into your soul and stole a place in your heart.

2. The biggest compliment you can get is about your dog.

I must say, as a dog mom, the biggest compliment someone can give me is about my pup. “She’s so cute!” I KNOW! I MADE HER THAT WAY. SHE LOOKS JUST LIKE ME… jk. But still, tell me my dogs cute, or precious or well-behaved and I will take credit for all of it.

3. Your dog knows every little secret about you.

If dogs could talk, I would be royally screwed. I tell me pup everything. From how good or how bad my day was, to who I secretly hate to what I thought about lunch. She knows every little thing about me. Thank God a translator like Doug from “UP” hasn’t been invented…

4. Adventures are so much more fun with your dog.

My dog Carter is my adventure buddy. We go hiking, we go to the park and do so much more together. When everyone else bails on your plans, you know your dog never will.

5. Leaving them is heartbreaking. Every single time.

Whether you leave to go to work, to the store, to class or whatever; walking out that door every day is crushing. You have to tell yourself “don’t look back, don’t look back” just so you won’t run back in the door and embrace their fluffy faces. Let’s be honest, the real reason you were late is because you looked back…

6. Coming home is the best part of your day.

When you pull into the driveway, you know that waiting for you on the other side of the door is your best buddy. Opening that door and getting attacked by a wet nose and wagging tail is the best feeling in the world.

7. Who needs a boyfriend when you have your dog?

But really though, you don’t need a boyfriend to snuggle with when your pup already owns half of your bed anyways. And let’s be real, dogs are better cuddle bugs anyways.

8. You protect your dog child with your life.

I don’t know about you, but I would jump in front of a car, train, bus and baby stroller to protect my pup from harm.

9. Stepping on your dog’s tail is like the end of the world.

You beg for forgiveness on your hands and knees. You immediately start petting them praying that they will still love you. No matter how many times you do it, they will always forgive you.

10. You hold your pup a little tighter every time you hear “In the arms of an angel” comes on the TV.

Damn you, Sarah McLachlan! Every time you hear that stupid song come on the TV you hold your fur baby a little tighter. Thanking God that they are there beside you on the couch, and not in one of those pictures.

11. Even when they do something stupid, you can’t help but laugh.

Dogs have this ability to do the dumbest things, and still get away with it. Their big brown eyes and goofy personalities make you forgive them for anything. Including ripping up your favorite pair of slippers.

12. In the end, you don’t know what you would do without them.

Who would clean up the leftovers or greet you at the door? Your fur baby is the single most important thing in your life. They will never truly understand how much they mean to you. So give them an extra treat or pet them a little longer, because you, you are their world.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
