12 Things To Bring When You Go On Your Summer Roadtrip

This past weekend my best friend and roommate, Rachel Mundie, and I took a roadtrip to Portsmouth, Virginia, to attend a Twenty One Pilots concert. It was about a three hour car ride, so not really a long trip. However, we still needed plenty of essentials to survive in a car with each other. So, if you're taking a road trip this summer here are some things you're going to need.

1. Food and Drink (of course)

Don't eat and drink too much so that you don't have to take too many rest stops! Pack enough to last you most of your trip to avoid spending too much money on your trip.

2. GPS

Yes, you need a GPS. Don't be stubborn about your sense of direction. Take it to ensure that you are on the right path.

3. Personalized Playlist

If you're the driver, this is vital for you to remain alert. The occasional dance parties are also kind of fun, just keep your eyes on the road!

4. Car Chargers

Make sure you keep a car charger for everyone in the car so you can update your Snapchat stories and what-not.

5. Money

Keep a good amount of cash on you for gas, food, and emergencies. Most places accept credit and debit cards, but I personally like to keep a good amount of cash on me for those few places that don't.

6. Sunscreen

If you're taking this road trip during the summer, I guarantee that you're going to need some protection from the sun at your destination.

7. Sunglasses

These are pretty essential for the summer time in general! You'll miss them if you don't bring them!

8. Your Own Pillow

Some people can't sleep without their own pillow from home. If you're one of these people, put it on your list.

9. Tablet or Laptop

If you have some down time, pull up your favorite game or Netflix and kick back.

10. Earbuds or Headphones

If you are the passenger, these will come in handy if you don't like your driver's taste in music.

11. A Book

I know you're probably thinking, "lame." But if you're a bookworm like me, you'll want something to read in your down time.

12. Smaller Backpack or Purse

You'll surely want something to store all your stuff while you're on your adventures or whatever it is that you're doing. You're not going to want to carry anything while you're on the go.

These are just a few things to keep in mind for your summer plans and trips. Live it up! Take chances and be adventurous! Enjoy your summer!

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
