Going to concerts is one of my favorite things to do. There's something about the atmosphere and the feeling you get while watching live music that makes it so addicting. If you're anything like me, a concert is your happy place and you're constantly looking to buy tickets. Here's a list of things familiar to all avid concert goers.
1. Getting your friends onboard.
The first challenge any avid concert goer faces is getting your friends to go. The second a tour is announced you know you have to go, but sometimes your friends don't feel the same way. Whether it's the fact that they don't listen to the band/artist, they don't have money, or they just don't want to go, you know you're going to have some convincing to do.
2. Actually getting the tickets.
This is possibly one of the most stressful parts of the whole concert going process. Your heart is beating and hands are shaking as the clock turns to the minute tickets go on sale. The absolute worst part is when they sell out too fast leaving you to turn to super overpriced resale tickets, which leads me to my next point...
3. Spending all your money on tickets.
Ah, nothing beats the feeling than checking your bank account after buying concert tickets and seeing you spent every cent you had on them.
4. Finding the perfect outfit.
The concert is weeks away but what you're going to wear is always on your mind. You know you have to look good, even if your favorite member/artist won't be able to see you.
5. Lining up.
If you actually have seats there's nothing to worry about but, if you have general admission tickets, the fight to get to the front (especially from the back) is like a war. That's why lining up is so important. Although, you're waiting outside for hours before the show starts, it's actually a really fun experience. You get to meet a bunch of people who love that band/artist as much as you do and everyone bonds over the experience. When you're in front of the stage, you'll see it's all worth it.
6. Spending more money on merchandise.
Yet another moment where concerts cause you to go into debt. You finally pushed your way to the front and your eyes light up when you see the table filled with (overpriced) shirts, sweatshirts, hats, posters, etc. with your favorite band's/artist's logo, name, face and lyrics on it. You spend any money you managed to retain, after purchasing tickets, on buying a whole new wardrobe.
7. Conquering the pit.
As mentioned before, general admission is a war zone. People are pushing, falling, screaming and even sometimes being taken out of the pit by security. It's no joke and if you manage to survive GA unscathed, you should be proud of yourself. Although it could be dangerous, it's one of the best experiences ever, seeing your favorite band/artist from the pit. The atmosphere is unbelievable. It's my favorite place to be.
8. Completely losing it during the actual concert.
As stressful as steps one through seven are, you know it's all worth it. The moment your favorite band/artist takes the stage any stress you have goes away and for the next two hours, nothing matters.
9. Making sure your phone battery lasts.
The worst moment during a concert is when you're in the middle of taking a picture/video and your phone screen turns black your phone died.
10. Losing your voice and hearing by the end of the night.
You may sound like you're dying, and you constantly yell when you talk but you had the time of your life.
11. Looking through pictures and videos the next day.
You wake up the next morning and lay in bed thinking about all the fun you had the night before. You re-watch all your videos and look through all the pictures trying to relive last night.
12. The post concert depression.
The next few days you can't get the concert out of your mind. You had an absolutely amazing time and you wish you could do it all over again.
Repeat.
No matter how many times you tell yourself you'll stop wasting money on concert tickets, we all know that isn't true and you'll be back, doing everything on this list in no time.
