Working in retail you see a lot of crazy things, but especially this time of year. Between frantic shoppers, people who have procrastinated what to get their whoever who is the worst person to shop for or those who just now had time to go shopping for the holiday season, it can get crazy at the mall. This is my version of the 12 Days of Christmas:
On the first day of Christmas you will see one mother taking charge.
On the second day of Christmas you will see two crying kids.
On the third day of Christmas you will see three miserable husbands.
On the fourth day of Christmas you will see four lost shopping bags.
On the fifth day of Christmas you will see five panic attacks.
On the sixth day of Christmas you will see six lost children inside of Macy’s.
On the seventh day of Christmas you will see seven old women nagging about prices to me.
On the eighth day of Christmas you will see people wandering around with lists like crazy.
On the ninth day of Christmas you will see the nine parking garages without a single spot free.
On the tenth day of Christmas you will see one random shopper with ten Starbucks cups of coffee.
On the eleventh day of Christmas you will see people buying anything for those family members they never really see.
On the twelfth day of Christmas you will see every retail working collapsing from exhaustion, but full of glee.
The holiday season can be crazy, but remember to be kind to those working in retail. We don’t set the prices and we haven’t had a day off in almost three weeks. Happy holidays and pray your family doesn’t make too many returns.
