Long car rides can be the worst experience for impatient people. I always think about how great it would be if we could just teleport places and never have to worry about traveling again. Unfortunately, society is not that technologically advanced yet, so we have to take matters into our own hands.

Here are some survival tips to keep you cool, calm, and relaxed on your next painfully long car ride.

1. Make a good playlist

Having a good playlist with new and throwback songs can always make the time go by faster. Try to designate a friend who is good at making playlists as the DJ.

2. Pack snacks

You are inevitably going to get hungry on a long car ride and your are not going to want to keep stopping so make sure to bring plenty of snacks for the trip.

3. Take naps

All I can say is that naps are your best friend on a long car ride.

4. Wear comfy clothes

Wear comfy clothes such as sweatshirts and sweatpants in the car so you can fall asleep if you choose to do so.

5. Make stops along the way

Plan to make a few stops during your drive to break the long trip up. Everyone in the car will enjoy pulling over even to just stretch their legs.

6. Don’t drink too much

This may be one of the most important things. You do not want to be the person that keeps asking to make stops because you had too much to drink and now have to use the restroom.

7. Choose your travel companions wisely

This goes without saying but, travel with people that you are comfortable spending many hours within a tight space.

8. Don’t keep looking at the clock

Try not to focus on the time because it will just go by slower the more you focus on the clock. Also do not be the person who keeps asking how much longer.

9. Plan your route ahead of time

Choose someone in the car to search the route ahead of time so at least someone has some sort an idea of the route that you are taking.

10. Share the driving

Split up the driving so that it is not just one person's responsibility. This will make the trip a lot easier for everyone in the car.

11. Be patient

This should go without saying but be patient and try to focus on bonding with the other people in the car.

12. Make it an adventure

Just have fun and see where this adventure takes you.

Make sure to try these tips for your next long car ride. The most important thing to remember is to never be the person that keeps asking how much longer. Nobody likes that person.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
