It's summer my dudes! Three months of nothing but fun and free time --and maybe a summer job, if you can find one. The problem, though, for a lot of students is a serious lack of funds. Yeah, it'd be awesome to do a huge road trip with your friends and go to New York and go to music festivals and all that shit, but honestly, who can afford that? So, if you're like me and, despite having a job (gotta pay tuition somehow), you're still pretty broke, here are some neat, cheap ways to have a good time this summer.
1) Explore your area
No matter how long you've been living where you're living, there's a good chance there are spots you've never been, or new things you haven't seen that have sprouted up. Get out there and look around!
2) Organize movie nights with your friends
Pull up Netflix, argue for a half hour on what to watch, pop some popcorn, and have a good time-- it's a simple as that!
3) Do a carwash
This is a cool way to have some fun with a friend, beat the summer heat, and even make a little money.
4) Go to the library
Summer is a great time to pick up a bunch of new knowledge and skills-- and the best part is, you get to choose what you learn! You can read up about how cars work, learn about a historical figure, or finally finish that classic you never got into in high school.
5) Go on a picnic
Picnics are a great way to enjoy your local parks, hang out with your friends, and eat some awesome picnic food (if your group is good at that kind of thing).
6) Take naps. Lots and lots of naps.
I'm not even playing. Summer is a great time to just relax-- inside or outside, whatever, whenever. The school year was stressful. You deserve this!
7) Clean out your attic and have a yard sale
Another activity with hella benefits. An easy way to make money, make some space in your house, and relive some old memories.
8) Pick up astronomy
Space is cool as hell, dudes. Summer is a great time to learn about what's actually in the night sky and then go observe it.9) Volunteer at your local humane society
There's never a bad time to go donate your time to local animals in need, so why not use your summer free time wisely? If you're not into helping at the humane society (although that seems impossible), you can also help out at local retirement homes, churches, homeless shelters, and more.10) Do some DIY stuff
It's always fun to get crafty! If you're a Pinterest ho like me, I'm sure you already have plenty of ideas stored away-- go choose some and get started!!
11) Get in shape
And you don't even have to pay for a gym membership! YouTube has a ton of really decent exercise videos of all kinds-- zumba, yoga, ab workouts, pilates, literally whatever. Get fit for $0!
12) Ponder the heat death of the universe
Wait, what?
