Every campus has those fancy new dorms that are basically a 5-star hotel. Yeah, you know exactly which one I'm talking about. But for every Ritz-Carlton, there's an older, not-so-nice dorm. This year I got to live in one of those dorms, which wasn't that bad except in the warmer months since there's no air conditioning in my building. It made for an interesting freshman year as I got the full dorm experience and made some funny memories as my roommate and I would do anything to cool off. Anyone else who's gotten the "real" college experience of one of these dorms can relate to the struggles of living with no AC:

1. Walking into your building is like walking into a sauna

The temperature + humidity = a sweat pool

2. And you immediately strip the second you get to your room

3. You wake up in a pool of sweat every morning

4. Even in the winter, the building never goes below 80 degrees

5. Everyone always has their windows open

Despite Resident Life always telling us to keep them closed when it's cold, we have them open in the dead middle of winter

6. Because the outside is always cooler than inside

7. Ice, ice, and more ice

Your freezer is stocked with ice packs, ice trays, and popsicles. There is never enough ice.

8. Cold showers are your best friend

Especially right before bed

9. Hot beverages, on the other hand, are Satan's spawn

10. You beg your friends in the nicer dorms to visit just for the dose of AC

Sleeping in as many other dorms as possible per week has become your sport

11. You became comfortable with your floor very quickly because no one ever wears adequate clothing

12. You can have 8 fans on full blast but it makes no difference

You can never escape the heat! Good luck to my fellow residents as the weather is getting warmer again!

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
