I have an INFP (introversion-Intuition-Feeling-Perception) personality type, which means I'm a sensitive idealist and a person who needs to take a four hour nap after interacting with the general public. Okay, that's only half-true, but as being a part group of people that comprises four percent of the population with this personality type, I tend to listen more and talk less.
I'm not going to give you a spiel of what it means to be an INFP in a cliff notes version of Myers-Briggs, since there's already countless articles that do just that, but I am going to highlight 12 daily struggles that I face as INFP.
1. Needing to recharge your batteries after interacting with people
2. Being the best listener in your group of friends, which means you become the therapist for everyone
3. Craving alone time, but then finding yourself going down a rabbit hole during that time of solitude
4. Having a strong opinion about a topic, but being afraid to share it because you fear rejection and humiliation
5. Constantly assuming that someone is angry at you when that isn't even the case (Misinterpreting a text message or email)
6. Getting funny looks when you tell people you enjoy writing and reading books for fun
7. Walking away from a superficial conversation after two minutes, but participating in a conversation about the origin of the universe for hours
8. Not saying more than few words when you first meet someone, then talking nonstop when you realize you can trust someone and be vulnerable around them
9. Taking far too long to respond to a message because you want to make sure the words sound just right and you don't come off sounding like an idiot
10. Wanting to save the world, but only being able to tolerate the company of one or two people at a time
11. Trying to get a word in during a conversation with your extraverted friends, but finding that you're only talking to yourself because nobody heard you
12. Accepting the fact that you're proud to be an INFP and wouldn't want to be anyone else
