12 Struggles Of Being A Coffee Lover

Hi, my name's Julia and I'm in love with coffee. We have a pretty good relationship, with a lot of good memories. We get along pretty well, but at times, coffee can cause some unnecessary problems. My relationship with coffee tends to be a love-hate relationship. I love how coffee tastes and makes me feel but I hate some of the struggles that come with it. If you're a coffee lover, you understand the daily struggles that coffee causes and you will relate to this post more than you've ever related to something in your life.

1. Just one cup doesn’t wake you up.

You need 2-3 cups to be able to wake up completely. Just one cup never suffices

2. The taste of old coffee.

Nothing...and I mean NOTHING... is worse than the taste of coffee that has been in the pot too long.

3. Headaches when you don’t have your daily cup of joe.

Drinking coffee every day is DANGEROUS. Caffeine is so addictive. I drink at least one cup every morning. So, the days that I don’t drink coffee, I have a splitting headache until I can get my hands on a cup of coffee.

4. When coffee doesn’t keep you awake at night when you need it to.

"You won't be able to sleep tonight if you drink coffee now!" is something I always hear whenever I drink coffee at 8 at night. To be honest, it doesn't affect me like it did when I was younger. Even when I need to pull an all-nighter to finish an essay that I procrastinate so for, coffee doesn't keep me awake.

5. Caffeine crash.

Have you ever drank a cup or two of coffee and didn’t eat food with it and later on, you start to feel shaky? That’s called a caffeine crash...aka get some food in your body!!

6. Coffee breath.

Coffee tastes great but the bad breath it leaves you with is kinda annoying. It’s so hard to get rid of. I had a teacher in 6th grade that always had coffee breath and it was gross. I would ask her for help and she would bend over my desk to help me and all I would smell is her gross coffee breath. Ever since 6th grade, coffee breath is my worst fear.

7. Always Running late to things because you wanted to stop for a cup of coffee.

I always wind up being late to school just because I stop to get coffee. Sorry, I can't think straight or participate in life without my coffee!

8. Basically, all your paychecks go to a coffee shop of some sort

At least half of my bi-weekly paychecks go to getting coffee either before or after school...or maybe both! What can I say? Coffee is what keeps me going!

9. The fear of getting judged by how much coffee you consume

I get it, I get it. I drink more coffee than the normal human being! You survive how you survive and I survive how I survive!

10. Buying an expensive cup of coffee and winding up not liking it

It honestly sucks paying $5 for a cup of coffee and wind up not even liking it. SO disappointing.

11. You can’t be productive unless you’re properly caffeinated

Without coffee, you feel tired and sluggish. You just want to lay in bed all day and get nothing done.

12. Trips to the bathroom

This might be TMI but this is probably the biggest struggle for me. I drink coffee before school every day. Sometimes, I get another cup for while I’m in school but later I run into that problem of needing to poop and that’s a BIG issue for someone who is bathroom shy.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
