Are you feeling worn down on life? Do you find it hard to connect with God because of all the frustrating distractions around you? You’re not alone. Many Christians find it very hard to concentrate on their spiritual walk with God due to the hustle and bustle of today’s modern society. However, there is hope! Music is a great way to block out the noise of the world and focus on God, but do you want to pull out a hymnal? While I do enjoy the classics, I have thoroughly enjoyed my discovery of Christian Contemporary music over the years. The following are fresh, modern, fun songs that are sure to get you moving in the right direction.

1. Good Good Father

Show your Heavenly father some appreciation with this beautiful song by Chris Tomlin.

2. Thy Will by Hillary Scott

Are you going through a tough time? Be like Hillary Scott and learn "these four words" that will free you in a way you never thought possible.

3. "Revelation Song" by Phillips, Craig, and Dean

Phillips, Craig, and Dean is probably one of my favorite bands and I would recommend any of their songs, but this one is my favorite. Celebrate God's holiness while enjoying awesome vocals!

4. "Even So Come" by Passion

Excited for Christ's Return? While this song seems to be just about Christ's return, if you listen carefully, you will find other messages within these beautiful lyrics. No matter what, "even so come!"

5. "Redeemed" by Big Daddy Weave

Celebrate God's mercy and ever-lasting love in this comforting song that reminds us that we're "not who [we] used to be."

6. "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)" by Chris Tomlin

This modern take on the classic hymn is refreshing, blending old and new into a unique and beautiful worship experience.

7. "Soul on Fire" by Third Day

Feel yourself warming back up to God as this beat sets your soul on fire. Is it hot in here?

8. "Prodigal" by Sidewalk Prophets

Have you strayed away from God? We all do, sometimes. This song is a reminder that it is never too late to go "running like a prodigal" into our Father's arms!

9. "The God I Know" by Love and the Outcome

This is bound to get you out of your seat, dancing as well as singing (guilty as charged). Packed full of energy and joy, you can't help but smile at the wonderful things God has done in your life.

10. "Mended" by Matthew West

I don't know about you, but most days, I feel like a hot mess. I get caught up in the same mistakes, don't progress to where I want to, and wonder if I'm really progressing at all. Take a look at these feelings from God's point of view with this awesome song.

11. "Come As You Are"

Do you feel like you can't come to God because you have done something too big to forgive? This song shatters that lie and is filled with reassurance of God's ever-welcoming invitation to be with him.

12. "By Your Side" by Tenth Avenue North

This song is the gentle reminder we all need at the end of a long, hard day: God is always with us, no matter what happens.

There you have it. Go forth and worship!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
