I have always loved reading. Getting lost in an imaginary world with people you grow closer with than people you meet in real life just fascinates me every time I pick up a new book. However, not many people seem to appreciate this as much anymore. So, for my fellow bookworms, here are a few things I know you can relate to:
1. You have actually skipped class to read your book.
Sometimes you really just can't put the book down. Your professor will have to wait.
2. Barnes and Noble is your all-time favorite store.
3. You keep a book in your bag at all times in case you have a spare second to read it anywhere.
When you're at a friend's house, when there's a break between class, even when you're sitting down to pee for a few seconds.
4. You make plans to do stuff after "one more chapter," but next thing you know it's passed midnight and you got nothing accomplished like you planned to.
Sometimes, this one really gets you and you finish the book in one night.
5. You have various books placed in different rooms throughout the house so you can read no matter where you are.
After your mom scolds you for leaving your stuff everywhere, she is usually pretty impressed that you can read multiple books at a time and not get mixed up with all the plot lines.
6. People gawk at you when you admit you actually liked some of the books we had to read in high school English class.
"Of Mice and Men" was really not that horrible and, if you're like me, you probably cried at the ending.
7. Most people seem disgusted when you admit reading is in your top three favorite hobbies.
With the look on their faces, you would think you admitted to something much worse than reading a book.
8. You're more worried about which books you're going to bring on vacation than which clothes to pack.
9. You've gotten in trouble with a teacher for reading during their class.
There are kids sleeping or texting in the back of the room, but I get in trouble for doing something actually productive for my brain.
10. You panic when you finish a book and don't have another one waiting next in line.
Usually, you keep a list of books in your mind to avoid this problem. But sometimes, unfortunately, it does happen.
11. Your room is basically your friends' personal library.
And when they always come to you when they can't think of a book to read, you rattle off a few of your favorites along with a synopsis.
12. You always read the book before you see the movie.
And of course, the book is ALWAYS better.
