An empath is someone who is easily affected by other people's energies. Empath's absorb other people's emotions as well as physical symptoms due to being extremely sensitive. It can be hard for empaths to feel relaxed or happy because of the energy of those around them.Though it is always good to have empathy for others, being an empath can be extremely exhausting due to feeling the emotions of those around you constantly. Here are 12 signs you are an empath.

1. You feel others' emotions as if they were your own.

If an empath's friend was upset and crying, the empath wouldn't just feel sad for their friend, they would feel the sadness of their friend as if it were their own.

2. You know when someone is upset without them saying a word.

Empaths are highly intuitive. They can sense someone's emotions right as they walk in the room, without any indication they were upset other than the energy they bring into the room.

3. People vent to you often.

It is a common occurrence for not only friends, but also strangers to open up to empaths. People tend to get personal very quickly because they feel as if the empath truly cares and is listening.

4. Alone time to recharge is crucial for you.

After spending time with people, empaths can easily become fatigued and tired due to feeling so many different emotions. They desperately need time to recharge and be alone.

5. Being in public places can be overwhelming.

In places with a lot of people, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and tired due to feeling so much energy.

6. You are very generous.

Empaths find it hard to say no at times. They fear often that they will hurt the other person by saying no. If they see someone in need, they feel inclined to help and will feel anxious if they can't.

7. Watching the news or anything violent can be unbearable.

Seeing violent things on the news or in movies and TV shows can be extremely unpleasant for empaths. They may obsess over the emotions and sadness people may feel that are victims of violence.

8. You can easily sense someone's dishonesty.

Empaths are very emotionally intelligent and they can sense someone's negative energy or uneasiness when they are telling a lie. Especially when someone is lying about how they feel.

9. You are full of compassion.

Empath’s hate seeing others in pain. They are able to put themselves in other's shoes and are always willing to reach out and be someone to lean on.

10. You feel drained and tired often.

After constantly feeling so much emotion, it is easy for empaths to quickly run out of energy. They tend to be tired no matter how much sleep they get at night and feel fatigued easily.

11. You are a great listener.

Empaths tend to make others feel as if they are important and that what they are experiencing in their life matters to them. They pay attention to others and show empathy.

12. You may come off to others as moody and disconnected.

It can become frustrating and overwhelming to feel so many different emotions at once. They are usually caught up in their own thoughts and may seem like they are in their own little worlds at times.

Though being an empath can be a struggle at times, it is a beautiful thing. There are so many ways for empaths to take advantage of their intuition. When you realize that you are an empath and there are others that experience the same thing as you, it makes you feel much more understood.
