Every friend group has one: the mom. Everyone also knows who the mom of their friend group is just by the way that they act; they always try to take care of everyone else before taking care of themselves. It may seem trying to be the mom of the group, but they're almost always necessary to have to look out for everyone.

If you’re like me and may be the mom of the group, here are some signs that you really are:

1. You offer them money if they’re running low.

This is probably something that happens often, but you usually have a couple spare dollars, so when they're in need, you just give them the money and hope they pay you back at some point.

2. You buy them food

Again, another thing that definitely happens a lot. Your friends are probably always looking for snacks, and they know that you keep some in your bag at all times, so you're basically a walking pantry for them.

3. You’re the first one they come to when they have a problem

When something happens to them, you're the on speed dial so they can complain to you and ask for advice. It may take up some time, but you can't deny that you enjoy dealing with their problems and not your own.

4. You help them pick out outfits for going out

Even if you are going out with them, you still help them choose which shirt matches that new denim skirt they got so that they don't look like a weirdo when walking into that party.

5. You hold their hand when walking home from a party

This is something that anyone can relate to. I mean, who doesn't want someone to hold their hand at 2 in the morning while walking up hill so that they don't fall?

6. You offer to help them with their homework

You've probably finished all your work for the night, so why not help them with their own work? Odds are that you've already taken the class, so they know that you know what you're talking about when you help them.

7. You text them to make sure they got home okay

After you part ways from holding hands, you watch after them until they reach their dorm across the way. You then almost instantly send that "Did you make it back?" text just to make sure they actually entered the dorm.

8. You know what’s in their best interest

Sometimes, you know that they've made decisions, or will make decisions, that aren't going to benefit them. That's why you're the one to lead them in the right direction and help them with whatever they need.

9. You get them medicine when they’re sick in bed

They may only need orange juice and vitamins to feel better, but you'll still find yourself running to the closets CVS to pick up DayQuil, NyQuil, and every allergy medicine you can find--just to be safe.

10. You’ll stand up to someone that has wronged them

If they're afraid to be upfront with someone who has treated them poorly, you're the first one to step up and confront that person. If someone has wronged them, then they're wronged you too.

11. You’re not afraid to speak the truth to them

Yeah, the truth hurts, but it's better coming from you then some random person. They trust your judgment and that what you have to say is only going to benefit them in the long run.

12. They always know that you’ll be the greatest friend they’ll ever have

Through all the highs and lows, they know that you've always got their back and are proud to be the "mom" of the group.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
