12 Signs That You And Your Roommate Are Meant To Be

Roommates don't have to be best friends, but it's great when they are.

Thanks for folding my laundry when I don't want to.

Finding a roommate you love is probably one of the most underratedly challenging things you'll ever experience in college. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating. But you catch my drift. Going from living with your family and having a room of your own for 18 years, then suddenly having to squeeze into a dorm room, it can be tough. But if you're as lucky as I am, you get a roommate who you just click with. You start to wonder where this person has been for the last 18 years of your life and how you've been living without them. Life without them suddenly becomes unimaginable and you realize that you, simply, are meant to be.

1. You've heard them introduce themselves so many times you could do it yourself at this point.

First name. Last name. Hometown. Major. TV Show they were obsessed with at the age of 12. You shamelessly know it all.

2. Nothing is off limits between you two.

"Does this text make me sound too desperate?" "Are you cool if I wear that cute shirt of yours?" "Heads up... I'm probably gonna sweat a ton if we go out tonight."

3. You are always one step ahead of each other.

That cute boy that just sat down near you at dinner? No need to point him out... Your roommate already noticed him when he first walked into the dining hall.

4. You are so close that people confuse you as being sisters.

Biologically no, but...

5. Breaks are dreaded, while walking in the door after classes is what you look forward to.

Separation anxiety. It's a real thing.

6. You always support one another, no matter how stupid the subject matter might be.

*Cue cuddle and cry session*

7. You look forward to movie and nap-time together.

You probably have a list of movies and Netflix shows to binge together that quickly became the longest list on your phone.

8. Late night conversations are a must, each and every night.

Whether you went out together or not, there is never a night where you both don't come back and discuss the crazy, and sometimes cringe-worthy, things that occurred earlier in the night.

9. You say "I love you" every time you leave the other.

"I love you!" "I love you more!" Yes, this is a conversation I have had with my roommate... numerous times.

10. Your texts between each other consist of: "When will you be home?" or "I miss you."

Along with many memes, gifs, and a few texts about not wanting to go to class that day.

11. You do everything together.

You live on the same schedule, and are practically attached at the hip.

12. You've already started planning your life together next year.

Can't wait for another year of living with my best friend!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
