Traveling out of Oklahoma is filled with amazement, there are so many sights and landscapes that are completely different from our home state. There are different people, rules, cultures, and sights. Being from Oklahoma means there's a lot we haven't seen or experienced in our little fly over state that we have a love-hate relationship with.
1. Being amazed at anything that is bigger than a hill.
Literally, anything bigger than a hill makes you gawk at it until it leaves you.
2. You didn't know roads didn't have potholes and were smooth.
But when you find a few it feels like home again.
3. You pack for every weather occasion.
Being an Oklahoman you don't trust weather forecasters so you bring anything from a tank top to a coat.
4. You don't eat out at chain restaurants.
The best part of traveling is trying the local cuisine. East coast has great greek food! IT'S MAC AND CHEESE ON A BURGER!! Also Rula Bula was on Food Network!
5. You start to believe it is only windy in OK.
Even though I have seen tons of windmills out west, I still believe the only wind exist in Oklahoma.
6. You are in awe every time you hear an accent and wonder if you have one as well.
I say Y'all a lot and do I sound normal or do a have an accent and also can you read a dictionary so I can hear your accent some more?
7. The different landscaping and weather types.
Cacti, sandy terrain, long tall skinny trees, wooded areas, humidity, sunny and 75 all of it is new and different and constant.
8. How much there is to do in other cities
THERE IS ALWAYS SO MUCH TO DO THAT YOU CAN'T DO IT ALL IN A FEW DAYS!!! I was able to go to a spring training game and the zoo in the same town.
9. How fresh seafood can actually taste
I LIVE FOR COASTAL SEAFOOD.
10. The different cuisine
BBQ tastes better in the midwest, seafood is better on the coast, and southern comfort food is better in the south. I dream about this biscuit place in Chattanooga, TN.
11. New liquor laws like seeing it in grocery stores/ gas stations and bars staying open past 2 a.m.
YOU CAN BUY WINE AND LIQUOR IN GAS STATIONS AND IN THE GROCERY STORE WHY IS OKLAHOMA SO BEHIND!!?!?!?
12. The amount of walking other towns do
I probably walked five miles every day traveling.
