I'm a globetrotter, a nomad, a gypsy, and I couldn't imagine my life any other way. I'm constantly traveling and seeking my next place to visit. It defines my character, my passions, and how I see my future.
Don't get this mistaken for someone who just loves traveling, because honestly, who doesn't? Everyone loves a good vacation or visiting a new place. Yes, there are people, like myself, who value traveling more than others. These types of people love the idea of a new adventure and seeing as much of the world as possible. It's truly a passion and they would much rather spend their work bonus on a two week trip to Switzerland than a new car.
However, I'm not just talking about my love for traveling but I'm defining myself as someone who moves around or travels freely without ties holding them back.
From when I was young, traveling and exploring new places had always intrigued me. I liked the idea that there were millions of places, people, and cultures in the world that were all completely different. Different food, different experiences, different architecture, different landscape. It almost worries me at times thinking it may be impossible for me to see every place in the world. But trust me, I will die trying.
Most people find moving terrifying. According to Pew Social Trends, more than 37 percent of the U.S. population will never move out of their hometown during the course of their entire life. More than 59 percent won't move out of the state they were born in.
To me, that is terrifying.
Maybe you live in an exceptional place or maybe you don’t have the resources to leave. However, most of the time this is unlikely the issue. It’s attachment to familiarity and fear of the unknown.
When you have a movers soul, you look at these people like they are crazy to not want to move and they look at you like you're crazy when you say you’d move anywhere if an opportunity presented itself.
A love for traveling isn’t the only thing that comes with “the heart of a gypsy” but also the ability to pick up your life and move somewhere new in the blink of an eye.
If you happen to be a part of this rare breed, then you have noticed there are ways we think and act differently.
