A best friend is someone whom you can call at any hour of the night and he/she will be there for whatever you need. They are someone you can depend on for absolutely anything, even if it's hiding a body or letting you eat their favorite tub of ice cream after a breakup. Some best friends are temporary and just come and go with the tide.

Yet, when I think of this figure in my life, one person has always been my best friend and is a constant for me: my momma. We are two peas in a pod and couldn't be more alike even if we were twins. Here are 12 signs that your mom is your other half, and best friend...

1. She's the first person you call when you have any type of news.

She'll join in on your excitement when you find that new guy you like, or console you when you let her know you failed your Algebra 2 test.

2. You catch yourself finishing her sentences for her, because you knew exactly what she was going to say.You get the line "you sound just like your mom," all of the time, because your replies are so similar.

3. You can't date someone if she doesn't approve of them.

Momma disapproves of a guy and he's out the door before he knows what hit him.

4. You text her more than you text anyone else.

"Who're you texting so much?" ..."Oh, it's just my mom."

5. She's your go-to "gossip buddy."

Once you tell your mom how someone wronged you, there's no going back; let them go ahead and say their goodbyes.

6. When someone asks "Who is your role model?" Your answer is, "my mom."

When you picture what you want to be when you grow up, you see her. There's no one else you'd rather be a reflection of.

7. You wouldn't want to share your private secrets with anyone else.

She's the only person who's never going to let out those secret crushes you have, just to blackmail you. Momma is trustworthy.

8. She's your personal matchmaker.

You hate to admit it, but when it comes to dating and picking someone who's right for you, she normally knows best. She knows what you look for in that special someone and is sure to score you a lover, even if she has to ask all of her co-workers if they have any single sons.

9. Your number-one fan is none other than her.

Whether it's cheering you on in the bleachers or celebrating with you when you pass that scary exam, Mama always has your back. (And she can't help but brag about you wherever she goes.)

10. You two do literally anything, and everything, together.

Sorry fellas, when it comes to a shopping spree or that 5 p.m. walking trip for exercise, we're two peas in a pod.

11. She understands you when no one else does.

No matter what you have to say, she just gets you and knows how to handle the situation better than anyone else. Plus, you never have to fear her judgement.

12. You couldn't imagine sharing your whole life with anyone but her.

In all honesty, you don't need anyone else; you've already got her and that's enough for you.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
