It is not always easy to admit that we are aging. It is even harder when certain behaviors make it hard to prove how cool we can be. These are small things, everyday life details, that reflect how we are not so young and naive anymore. These are attitudes and ideas that move us one step farther from our weird adolescent selves.
1. Feeling powerful with your new dish-washing supplies.
Don't even try to argue with me while I hold my brand-new sponge— I can scrub anything away with this thing!2. Sticking to the rules...
After all, it is our duty as citizens of this society. We need to think about the consequences of our actions and be responsible.
3. ...And imagining that everybody else will disobey them.
Telling others how irresponsible they are is also part of our duty. Not to mention the fact that we totally forget about all the sermons we got from our parents during our rebellious phase.
4. Aiming for "Mr." and "Sir" or...
Whether that means growing a beard or getting out the suit you used for prom.
5. Debating between "Miss" and " Ms."
Because making ourselves look more mature isn't enough, right?6. Over-analyzing pains and diseases.
Yes, we used to lie about feeling great just so that we could go out. But that was before realizing how delicate our bodies can be. Now, our motto is: better safe than sorry.7. Being able to recognize a "good deal!"
Not only do we go grocery shopping, but we go prepared with coupons and discount offers for members8. Complaining about high prices.
Remember when your parents talked about prioritizing?9. Criticizing unintelligible music.
Our music was obviously the best!10. Being attentive to the latest news.
Isn't it ironic how we used to think that the news were boring? How we would get annoyed whenever our elders changed our favorite Disney movie for the evening news?
11. Enjoying our time alone to the fullest.
I can Netflix and chill. Most of the time, though, I will rather stay home with the company of my thoughts. You would be surprised of how much wisdom can come out of some well-spent time with ourselves.
12. Giving sincere advice.
Because... what's better than to share the wisdom we get from our me-time?
This might be the best stage of our lives—we get discover who we are and get a glimpse of who we'll be in the future! Who knew "adulting" would be this interesting?!
