12 Sequels To Make You Excited For Summer
Upward Onward

Summer is a time for swimming, going on road trips, spending time at the beach, and most importantly, watching the newest and most popular movies of the summer at the theaters!

This summer, it seems to mostly be about sequels and/or remakes. Whether you enjoy sequels or not, here are 12 sequels/remakes to get excited about this summer:

1. "Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising" — May 20th

It basically has the same premise as the first one, a couple and their baby have noisy neighbors. In the first one it was a fraternity living next door, but this time a sorority moves in next door, and the couple from the first film, Mac and Kelly, enlist the help of their enemy from the original film, Teddy, to help get rid of the girls.

2. "Alice Through the Looking Glass" — May 27th

It's been six years since the first live action Alice in Wonderland film, so it's sequel is long overdue! Alice returns to Wonderland to save the Mad Hatter in this one.

3. "X-Men: Apocalypse" — May 27th

While I am personally not an X-Men fan, fans have been waiting 2 years for this movie, so I'm sure it'll be a huge summer box office hit.

4. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" — June 3rd

I'm sure a lot of people were pleasantly surprised by how good the first live action TMNT movie was, so I'm excited to see if the sequel will be equally as good!

5. "The Conjuring 2" — June 10th

3 years after the first one, a sequel is back that i'm sure will still scare the pants off of everyone. But the best part of summer is telling/hearing ghost stories right?

6. "Now You See Me 2 — June 10th"

The sign of a "not as great as the original" sequel is when one of the main characters gets replaced. But here's to hoping that this one is as good as the original.

7. "Finding Dory" — June 17th

If someone tells you that they're not that excited for Finding Dory, they have to be downright lying to your face. I don't know a single person that isn't waiting for June 17th!

8. "Independence Day: Resurgence" — June 24th

While not a remake of the original, but a sequel that takes place 20 years later, the same thing happens just with different characters. So I'm sure it'll be hard for fans of the original to not judge this movie based on its predecessor. With that being said, I have high hopes.

9. "Ghostbusters" — July 15

For me, any movie with Melissa McCarthy is hilarious, but I have my reservations about a reboot of the original Ghostbusters. I am excited to see how things will change from the original (besides the obvious, female cast of course).

10. "Ice Age: Collision Course" — July 22nd

Some people say they need to stop making these movies, while others love each and every movie. Personally, I'm excited to see what Scrat the Squirrel does this time to send the gang on another adventure.

11. "Star Trek Beyond" — July 22nd

I'm not a Trekkie, but for those of you that are, and even those that aren't, the trailer makes it seem like its gonna be a pretty good sequel.

12. "Jason Bourne" — July 29th

For us Jason Bourne fans, when Matt Damon wasn't starring in the Bourne movies, it just wasn't the same. So this is a sequel to be very very excited about!

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
